Really?
You know it really does suck because we're not like everybody else and when we go out of our way to make or get something special just for us it is a huge disappointment when it doesn't work out. One of my new addictions is micky d's sugar free vanilla iced coffee - I get one every morning and when it's not made right I get very annoyed. I mean come on - this is mcdonalds - they have a freaking formula for everything so how come they screw this up so much!? Anyway I feel your pain - hope u found something good to eat.
You know.......I never thought about it like that before but you are right. We aren't like everyone else. If I was, I wouldn't have made a special dish to begin with. Maybe that's where alot of the frustration comes from.
I plan, think and obsess over food alot more now, than I ever did. Before WLS, I just ate whatever, whenever, however.
Now, I think about protein, calories, carbs, sugars, amount, how fast I am eating, how much fluid I am drinking........you get the picture.
Maybe that is why I get sooooo frustrated when certain meals do not work out. I can't just eat whatever anymore.
Thanks for pointing that out, I don't think I realized how much that plays a part in my life everyday.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
It smacks you like a ton of bricks when you realize how much we think about food - and how much we DIDN'T think about food before hand.
Sorry about your dinner....a funny aside...I was fairly new out of surgery and I had gotten some steamed chicken and broccoli from a chinese place. I got a large container of it, ate a very small portion of it, and then went to go get ready for the day - hubby was cleaning up. The next day I went to go get my left over super yummy chicken. But wait, where the hell was it? Oooooohhhh, lovng hubby threw it out. THREW IT OUT I tell you. Why? Because "I thought you didn't like it, you hardly ate any of it" I was soooooo freaking miserable. I was soooo looking forward to having that left over chicken. So, long story short, I totally get the disappointment when something you have just for you is no longer an option.
But, it sounds like you did a wonderful job in adapting to the situation by having a small piece of the regular and taking out some of the pasta. Now, THAT'S successing - being able to continually adapt to your surroundings!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses. ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/thumbsup2.gif)
