Anyone have any info. on Dr Lisa Medvetz
Dr. Medvetz has just started at the Barix clinic in Langhorne. What i know of her is this... she's a general surgeon who specializes in breast surgery (cancer) and bariatric surgery. The staff seems to REALLY like her. The only surgeon I personally know at Barix is Dr. Pupkova (who I dearly love - a truly wonderful surgeon and person).
On the other side of it, I can heartily recommend Barix as a facility for your surgery. Everyone from the office staff to the nursing staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and a delight to work with. The hospital facility is beautifully equipped, comfortable, and incredibly clean. One of the things that especially attracted me to it was that everyone who is there is "healthy" and there for the same reason. You're not on a floor with someone with appendicitis, pneumonia, or a broken leg - so from an infection perspective, it feels "cleaner" to me - and from a care perspective the nurses are so focused on the after-care for bariatric surgery that they KNOW the answers and what to expect.
Finally, the support groups at Barix are wonderful. Many of us on this board are members and/or leaders of the groups, which are active and well-organized.

Dr. Medvetz and Dr. Ramachandra performed my lap band surgery at Mercy Fitzgerald. Dr. Medvetz is an absolute doll. She really cares about her patients and about helping people in general. She went to Haiti and volunteered her time after the earthquake. I really miss her and wish she was closer : ( I would highly recommend her!
