New Here and I have a question

Hi, I'm Skylar. When I first came to OH years ago I checked out this board but it was mostly a very close knit group from the Philly area - to tell the truth I was jealous that so many people lived close to each other and they used to have monthly meetings in each other's homes. I've perused some of the posts today and it seems lots of posters from all over PA now. I'm also amazed at how active the board is now - that's great.

I hang out in the non-surgical weight loss group since I decided not to have surgery - too scared. LOL Now that I have lost 170 pounds, I find myself with all this hanging extra skin and the only way to get rid of it is surgery - and I'm still scared. I was wondering if any of you here have had plastic surgery in the Pittsburgh area - who did you use and were you happy with the results? Did you have any complications like infections? My PCP had no suggestions. I think knowing that others here have had success will help me get over some of this fear of both the known and unknown. Is there any thing I should avoid?

I appreciate any help you have regarding this matter.

Hi Skylar!

I have absolutely NO advice on plastics from first hand experience.  There are definately ppl here who have had plastics...but I'm not sure anyone in the Pittsburgh area.

I just wanted to throw in a quick welcome to the pa board....I hope you'll stick around and play with us!

Hi Skylar and welcome (back) to the PA board.  While we are a close-knit group, we truly welcome everyone with open arms, and we do have folks from all over - even though a lot of us do tend to be easterners ;-).  We are supportive of people no matter where they're from and do a lot of electronic friending when it's tough to get together physically.

I want to congratulate you, though, on having lost 170 pounds without surgery.  WOW.  That's wonderful and amazing progress and something to truly be proud of!  It shows a lot of hard work and dedication.  Good for you!

I can't answer the plastics question, but I know there are a lot of folks on here who have had plastics, some rather extensively.  They have gone as far as Mexico to have them, and I know some have been toward the center of the state as well, so hopefully you'll get some answers relevant to your local docs.

Welcome and I hope you'll stick around!

Hi Karen, thanks for the congrats. It was hard at the beginning because it I had to change my tastebuds and how I prepared food - once I got that changed it's been smooth sailing. Ironically I started it because I had developed serious health problems and found the weight loss a bonus.

I know there are many on the plastic surgery board who have been very happy with surgery in Mexico - but I'm so scared about surgery that I I really don't think I could go far from home.

Thanks

Hi Skylar - welcome back to the PA board. Many congrats on losing the weight without surgery.

I don't have any plastic surg. experience, but I wanted to say hello.
