I am leaving today for California and will be on an airplane for 6 hours at a time. Any ideas on what i can take to eat on this long trip?

The trip total will be more than 8.5 hrs.

For me it would be some string cheese and some nuts. I can also eat Lance cheese and crackers. I`m not sure what you are allowed to carry on. I would also drink lot`s of water.

Ziplock baggies of protein powder - you can ask for milk or water on the plane or get it in the airport. Pudding cups don't have to be refrigerated, yogurt (pack a little icy or freeze a water bottle)

I know you are early out so options are limited. Just make sure to get up and move around on the plane at least every hour and stay hydrated!

Have a good trip

Like Liz said, yogurt and pudding cups if you are still on soft food, or liquids.  Lots of water bottles.  If you can have string cheese, that travels well.  Not sure what you are allowed at this point, or when you will be traveling.

Thanks for the help. Pudding and other liquids are not allowed thru TSA so it may just be protein and water.
I always use Smart Balance so I will have to choke them down.

Yea...I thought that the yogurts and stuff might not be allowed.

But the stores after the checkpoint might have some things (and you can buy anything there and bring them on the plane)

Definately keep up with the water and if you can get protein powder on, that would be great too (not sure if they will give you issues with loose powder...unless you already have "prepackeged" individual servings from the manufacturer.

And although this is not ideal by ANY sort of the imagination...but one day of travel and not hitting protein goals will be ok...just make sure you really stay on track for the next few days after that!

Examples of additional items that are allowed on the aircraft, in addition to the free baggage allowance, include:
    1. Food items for immediate consumption
    2. Mobility aids or assistive devices, such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, strollers, etc.
    3. One box or bag of duty free merchandise
    4. A coat or jacket
    5. An umbrella
    6. One item of reading material
  • All food must go through the X-ray machine. Do NOT bring food to the security checkpoint unwrapped, as shown in the image on the right.

Food must be wrapped or in a container. Unpeeled natural foods like fruit are okay, but half-eaten fruits must be wrapped.

  • After clearing security, travelers can now bring beverages and other items purchased in the secure boarding area on-board aircraft.

As far as protein, it must be the prepackaged sample stuff.  You can more than likely get the pudding, cheese and water once you are pasted the check point.  You can take your vitamins and stuff loose, if you have them in a plastic bag with the other stuff that you have on your carry on.
Have a safe trip.
