Women Food and God Book Group Info

It looks like there is some interest in the online book group on "Women Food and God" by Geneen Roth.

We will "officially" begin the group on June 1, which gives plenty of time to get your copy. It's available on Amazon of course, but I picked mine up at B&N for 30% off.

All are welcome to participate - and it's not a "women only" book or group.

We will move through the book a chapter or 2 at a time - chapters are short! - allowing us to think about the content as we go. Each week I will post a thread with a few "kickoff" thoughts and all are welcome to read and add to the thoughts.

You need not post every week but I do hope that we get some good discussion and thinking together about the book!

Lynn,

Ordered my book and can't wait to particiate.  I ordered my book through Amazon, it was $9.99, which I thought was a good deal.

I have the book already and have read half of it. How will it work? Will we meet real time online? Or will we post our thoughts on each chapter each week

I have done book groups as weekly posts in the past with good success. I think that a real time meeting/chat would be great, but also very hard to arrange given everyone's varied schedules. But...i understand that this approach worked with a Beck book group a while back. What are your thoughts?

the real time was good but it was limiting because of peoples schedules. i was more or less teaching them the steps anyway. so it was needed. I dont think it is needed for this.  I am happy that we can do this and weekly posts would work well

I also think that by using posts, people can learn from the book group even if they are not active participants. And honestly? One of my goals in offering to lead the group is so that you don't have to be our collective therapist any more than you already are! Of course your input carries a certain "weight" but...I hope you can just enjoy being part of the group too!

My B&N had 40% off $24 if member but I'm not a member so I'll grab it off Amazon which was even cheaper than having a B&N discount and if you combine books, it gets better.   I did pick up her Feeding the Hungry Heart as the bits and pieces I read in the store just jumped out at me and I couldn't leave without it.   I'm not much of a reader, never any time so this will be challenging but I'm down a couple chapters already.   If WFG goes as fast, it'll be great.
