Pam,

Double check with your pharmacist on the actigall, but I'm fairly sure it can be ground up and mixed with applesauce, pudding, etc.

As to adding in pureed foods... TAKE YOUR TIME.  Your pouch (and your stoma) are still VERY swollen, so not much will get through, and everyone is different in terms of what sits well with them.  What doesn't work today may well work next week or next month.  Try really easy things - maybe pureeing some solids in soups... make sure they are REALLY moist at the first.  Don't try anything new unless you're at home!

Good luck and just be patient.  Be careful of the sugar in the fruits - it does cause some people to dump, especially early out.

There are some great puree ideas at www.bariatriceating.com and at theworldaccordingtoeggface.com

If you take your pill (by cutting in half) half and hour before or after your meals you should be ok.  You can double check w/ the pharmacist about that and/or your doc.

Pureed food - it doesn't look appetizing but realize it's a necessary stage of healing. And Karen is right...give yourself time and your pouch time to "accept" the new food stages.  You may want to try just eating a teaspoon of it or so at a time for the next day or so and stay basically on full liquids.

Anyway - pureed ideas:

Refried beans (watch fat content!) with some melted cheese.
Meatballs, pureed with some gravy or broth (again, watch fat content) or tomato sauce
Ricotta cheese, sprinkle some garlic powder on it, some tomato sauce on it, and heat it up in the microwave for an italian type taste (think noodless lasagna)
Chilli...pureed and you can top with some greek yogurt for extra protein
Very softly scrambled eggs (on most plans, double check with your surgeon) or egg beaters

My surgeon also had said things like mashed potatoes are ok - but I would advise against that - no protein value and can wake up the carb demon if you have one living inside of you

Each stage can be difficult at first...but remember...you've eaten everything you've wanted for your whole life...and one day will be able to eat food again, many of your "favorite's" pre op, just modified for better living...so 6 weeks or so, in the big picture, is not that long!   Those thoughts got me through on more than one occassion, lol!

I know these might look unappetizing but they were a godsend for me...

They are also a buit pricy but I was looking for taste, variety and easy so it was worthi it to me.
Just another option - Walgreens had been stocking some of these in the store - others are available online.
