OT - Help some kids? (Now with kids sizes)
Hi all. And something else for my family to deal with :(
On Sunday my cousins house was involved in a large structure fire while they were out shopping. They came home to find their house basically fully engulfed. They have three children.
Boy (Keanu) - will be a year old in June
Girl (Alanna) - is 5 going on 6 shortly
Boy (Ayden) - 7 or 8 years old
Now, without going into much detail, I do NOT agree with their life style. The parents are pretty good at "playing" the system and neither have any education, and she does not work at all (stay at home mom which is a BIG job...but in my humble opinion...if you are receiving public assistance...you should at least attempt to help yourself by working) HOWEVER....I feel TERRIBLE for their children. They have lost just about EVERYTHING and no child deserves that, regardless of how it happened.
If any of you have any items such as clothes or toys for the children and we can figure out a way to get them to me, I will make sure they get to the kids. I would prefer NOT to do any financial support in outright donations...again...because I don't believe in their lifestyle, but I want the KIDS to have some sort of normalcy as soon as possible.
You can reply to this, email me, or text me (email: [email protected] PM or email me for my cell number)
And of course, thoughts and prayers are ALWAYS welcome to help them through this time.
Here are some pics....

Back of the house....the staircase on the right used to go to a doorway where the metal ladder is propped up

I've been through a house fire and even though we had insurance, it was still difficult to deal with the whole thing.
I am going to have/help Siehara go through her toys and books and see what we have. We don't have any clothes that would be in the right sizes, but we'll do what we can. I'll let you know when we have some things and will make sure to get them to you.

I let my mom know about this post - she agrees with everything. She also mentioned that perhaps things like warmer clothes/blankets might be needed first due to the cold weather we've been having (they live somewhere in the area...I forget the name of the town though)
The other idea was gift cards to walmart/target if you want to give something but don't have any specific items. That way we know the cards would go to something tangible that they need.
She did just find out that their insurance company will cover the claim - which involved aiding in replacing of household items...but it is just stuff to get the kids throgh now.

Hi Pam...
Very sorry to hear about your family's devastating loss and my heart goes out to those little ones! We have lots of toys that the girls don't use and I imagine that several of them are gender-neutral and would be just fine for a boy who is almost one. Do you know sizes for the kids?
I'll be in touch....
Eric
