Hi all. If you have not read the book Women Food and God. I highly recommend it.

I really think that men can read it as well and learn so much about why they eat.

thanks. With a lighter summer schedule, I am hoping to read a few things. I haven't read for ME in years and hope to accomplish that this summer. I will keep this book in mind.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Is that by Geneen Roth? If so, Oprah also recommended it in the last "O" magazine.

I downloaded "Overcoming Emotional Eating" by Geneen Roth to my sister's Kindle on the weekend. Excellent chapter there on compulsion...but I didn't get to read the whole book...actually I thought it was Women Food & God that I was getting but got the wrong one accidentally.

Can you give us a little capsule of some highlights?

Yes it is. I have read all her books most of them back in the day when I was just realizing the impact of my emotions on my food intake. Those books were hard for me to relate to but this book, speaks to me in every sentence. So much that I often have to put it down, because the revelations are intense or the " negative " part of me sees that this will help and works overtime to get me to put it down.

Mainly the premise is this, when we focus on the food, and the diet and the numbers and not our spirit. Then we will always fail the race. We miss the whole picture. She thinks the whole picture begins with our spirit. When we are punitive and angry with ourselves our spirit suffers.

You dont have to be religous in anyway to benefit from the book

Nicole

I've had the book for a couple weeks now and only looked through it but will read it soon.  I also read her other books.  She will be on Oprah this week - I think Wednesday.

Another interesting one - Nice Girls Finish Fat by Karen Koenig.

Your posts that I'm catching up on today are really what I absolutely need to see...and are giving me great ideas.  I'm gonna keep this on my list of things to read!
