Slacker Steffi......help me!
I know you are probably hanging on OH instead of teaching. So I wanna put you to work! Help me. I cannot use Quadratic formula for this problem. I have to solve by completeing the square, but I keep getting stuck! Help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and OH won't let me type exponents, so the 2 behind the Y's in the first term are squares.
y2-9y+30=0, if I solve this by completing the square, I move to constant (30) over and am left with
y2-9y = -30. I want to take ½ the coefficient of y, square it, then add it to both sides. That’s the step I have been doing, but it’s messing me up. What do I do?

OK - so I put the information into the Quadratic Eqaution calculator and as you have it written y^2-9y+30 does not work. I changed the signs around and used y^2+9y-30. When I did that I got the answer of 2.6 and 11.6. Check to be sure that you wrote the equation properly. Sorry if this does not help - but I have not done this in a long time and I was looking to factor - or use the formula.

Thanks anyways. I am not allowed to use the quadratic equation for this problem. I have to slove the problem by squaring both sides. Which gives an answer with a radical in it.
I HATE ALGEBRA! I could just cry, because I don't think I understand this chapter enough to get a B on my test. *sigh*
