FLANK STEAK??????
no grill
I miss my grill. Last year I bought a charcoal grill for here thinking it would be better, plus it was cheaper than a gas one. I HATED having to worry about the charcoal and that it wasn't as easy as just flipping a switch to get heat. It got rusted out over the winter and I threw it out last week.
I plan to get a gas grill soon. I just can't spend the money on it right now.

Do you have a grill pan? LOVE that thing! I agree with Jo on the marinating. It's a great cut of meat. Makes good fajitas too (saute onions and peppers - put on a whole grain tortilla with sour cream and cheese).
If you don't have a grill pan use your broiler. HEat that baby up as high as it goes (it's really just an upside down grill) put the rack on the top position and put the steak under it when it is nice and hot. About 5-6 minutes a side for medium usually (depending on how thick it is). LIke Jo said too make sure you slice across the grain so it is nice and tender. Oh and ALWAYS let meat sit for a good 10 minutes after you take it off the heat before you slice it.
If you are making it tonight and no time to marinate I like the adobo seasoning or salt/pepper/garlic powder is my old standby.
Enjoy!

A few other old standby marinades for me
italian dressing
soy sauce, worsteshire, garlic powder and a little oil
djon mustard, oregano, worsteshire, oil and vinegar, garlic powder.
I don't measure anything just dump it in the ziploc bag and toss in the meat.
Oh and lately I've gotten in the habit of marinating the meat BEFORE I freeze it so it is all ready to go when it thaws.

You are probably already marinating it...but....
First off, I agree, it almost DEMANDS marinating, lol. It is a good cut of meat, but can be tough...but the marinading and cutting against the grain can help :) And fajitas...yummy!
I do the same as liz...just dump stuff in a bag...
Teriakyi or soy with some ginger (fresh or powdered), garlic (again, fresh or powdered), some sesame oil and what not...yummy
I like the italian dressing but tend to do that with chicken as opposed to beef
Oil, lemon juice, spices and herbs (dont' leave this one on over night...the lemon juice will start to "cook" the meat)
Hope it is good! What time should I be over for dinner?

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses. ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/thumbsup2.gif)
