Did I make a mistake? Lap Band v. RNY
Kelly as everyone has said it's a personal choice. I chose the Realize Band because I didn't want the dramatic surgery of RNY, not to say it doesn't work, just my choice. If something went wrong the band comes out, simple as that. Plus I'm a high volume eater, the band can curb that easily. Sweets aren't really my thing, if they were than RNY would've been my choice.
I know alot of Banders that have lost 100+ pounds....my boyfriend has lost 190lbs in almost 2 years. It can be done!! Neither is a "cure-all", they are both tools....you have to do your part!!
Have you been to the Lap-Band or Realize Band boards and asked what everyones status is? They are both very friendly boards!
I've lost 49lbs and 30+ inches in almost a year. While that's not alot compared to others, I've gained so much more. I can keep up with my children, walk up stairs and not get winded, look better in my clothes and my health has improved!!
Speak to your doctor, tell him what you're looking for, how you eat etc...he/she should be able to help you!
Whatever choice you decide on will be the right one for you!!!
Good Luck....

Everything happens for a reason..Just believe...
I think if you really want it and are committed to making lifestyle changes you will do OK. The band is harder then I thought, but that has just meant more of a learning curve for me, I have been very happy with it. I wanted and needed these changes and did everything I could to make it happen. I follow the rules, I have changed my whole view on eating and my lifestyle. It's tough, but it's worth it and I feel so much better which makes it worth it. I am a sweets person and that is hard for me, even with the band. It still takes a lot of self discipline to control it. I do treat myself here and there and have found that I can keep it under control. Life is all about moderation. I am not sure what your food issues are (volume, grazing etc) but follow your gut instinct on what you think will bring you the most success. Just know that you have to make the changes and then believe that you can, because you really can. I wish you much success on your journey with whatever you decide. When you do decide, don't look back!!! :)
