GOT MY DATE!!!!!
Hey PA Forum! I am so excited to finally have my date for surgery - July 6th. I wi**** were sooner but also glad this gives me 2 months to achieve optimum health - for a morbidly obese person - prior to surgery. I hope to lose at least 10 pounds and gain some lean body mass. I'm trying to build up my arms and upper body to make getting out of bed easier and all that. Anyway again I thank you all for your help and support in this process!! --Carolyn
Wow, thats great! I am very happy for you and a bit jealous as well. I have my consult with my surgeon on Monday and I am glad to get this process moving. Still looking for insurance approval and trying to get a surgery date too. Make the most out this time before your surgeryu to get your body moving and grooving. Good luck!

Thank you Swede. I had my consult with the surgeon back in March and after completing a series of pre-op tests, the doctor's office submitted to insurance for approval. I guess it's different depending on which plan you have. I have a high deductible but so far no flak about the surgery. Your day will come soon I know it!
Awesome news Carolyn!! July 6th will be here before you know it... by the time you get home, it'll be MY BIRTHDAY! You have 2 months to go on a healthy diet, get some exercise and do exactly what you said.. be at the best health you can be for your surgery. That is the best way to ensure a speedy recovery!

FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!
Way to go on starting the healthy lifestyle NOW and trying to get yourself in optimum health before surgery. That is a PHENOMENAL attitude to have and will certainly aide you on your journey :)
Some suggestions...cut out all caffeine, carbonated beverages, sugar. Get the carbs out of your life as much as possible. Increase lean protein, fruits, and veggies. And clean out those cabinets of crap food. If you can walk or do some sort of exercise, start doing that as well. It'll help with recovery and aide you in being able to do so AFTER surgery.
I'm not sure if you normally do, but feel free to post on the daily menu thread. I did so before surgery. Granted - some things may make us VERY jealous, lol, but it helps get YOUR mind around planning, planning, planning, and being accountable. It'll also help you think about what you put in your mouth before you actually do it. If you have to write it down...you might not want to eat it :)
Enjoy!

Thanks to all you great PA peeps!!! I am more afraid to give up caffeine than anything else. Oh yes - and commit lozenges too - I quit smoking 10 years ago - HELLO. I probably drink about 2 coffees a day - 1 @ home and a Starbucks iced coffee.
Pam where is the daily menu thread? And Lisa so glad we will share similar birth and re-birthday!
