Where do I start?

So, this past weekend was a girls get-away weekend and we went to the Hershey Hotel and Spa in Hershey, Pa.  We got bumped out of the hotel into one of their private cottages because of an overbooking problem.  It was incredibly beautiful.

We got ready to go out to the Hotel Lounge around 8 PM and had a few ****tails while getting ready.   Now, let me add in here.... I went for a 2.5 mile run in the AM and went out to breakfast with my running friends before leaving for Hershey.  I didn't eat anything until we got to the Hershey Lounge.  I was super hungry.  I started eating the 'party mix' well.... it had wasabi peanuts in the mix.  I am allergic to peanuts.

I immediately went  into anaphylactic shock and couldn't breath, had to be stuck with my Epi pen, got to ride in a ambulance and was not a very good patient (trying to rip out the IV and trying to leave the hospital bed) I was discharge Sunday morning and still got to enjoy the spa day we had planned.  I took yesterday off from work because I just didn't have the strength to do my job.  I went to the doctor and I am still on the steroids and antihistamine even though I don't want to be.

Today, I am back at work.  My lungs feel better - just tight.  I am exhausted.  Funniest thing of the entire night?  The EMT asked me if I was a smoker.  I apparently got quite indignant and yelled, "I am NOT a smoker!  I am a runner!"  and then I burst into tears.

You can't measure your achievements with someone else's yardstick!

Beth,

I am sorry that you landed in the hospital during your girls getaway but glad you had teh epi pen there and got the help you needed.

Take time to let your body heal and regain the strentgh you need to and try not to over do things till you feel 100% once again.

I am so sorry I just knew that you had been snuck some kind of nuts in the chocolate somewhere. I hope you feel better soon.

Glad you are starting to feel better :)

Pleeeeese tell me that you were trying to pull out the iv and climb out of the bed when you were still having trouble breathing and not getting enough oxygen to your pretty head....because you would NEVER want to make a nurses job like your dear friend's Pams job harder now would you??  right?  RIGHT?!  (sorry - had to throw that in there)

:)  Feel better dear!  Oh - and remember to refill a script for an epi pen STAT
