Pam - I'm sorry that you and your family are going thru this troubling time with your brother.  I agree that hospitalization is the best thing for him.  Hopefully the Dr.'s can get him stabilized quickly.
Hugs,
Lisa

I certainly hope they can start to stabilize him quickly.  Unfortunately, that will also depend on his cooperation level...which is always the wild card in the mix.

Thanks lisa :)

Pam I am so sorry and you and your family are in my prayers. Sometimes that is the best thing...or the only thing....we can do.

Remember the Serenity Prayer.

Yup...you summed it up...the "only" and "best" thing.

Thanks for the reminder of the serenity prayer...something I hadn't thought of and needed to :)

Pam - I wish I words of wisdom to help you and your family through this terribly difficult time - the only thing I can offer are my prayers for all of you, especially your brother, to help him find a path to recovery. My heart goes out to all of you - I cannot begin to imagine the pain and heartache of seeing a loved one go through something like this. You will be in my thoughts and prayers...Kathy

Thank you so much Kathy.  The thoughts and prayers are really what we need right now, and they are invaluable to us.  I really appreciate it

Pam,

I'm so sorry you're going through this, but I'm glad your brother is getting help.  I hope they're able to see through your brother's manipulations.  (Folks are often able to calm themselves down when the MH professionals are around.)  As others have said, remember to take care of you during this!!!!  I know how hard this can be on families---one of my brothers has a lot of MH issues, is one who knows what prescription meds, drinks, doesn't work.  He can be very charming but is also the one who stirs things up in the family, causing rifts between everyone.  Let me know if I can help in any way, even if you just need to rant!!!!  484-716-2533

Thanks so much for the thoughts, prayers, and number.  I will definately keep it if I need it.

The manipulation is what scares me the most right now.  I just have to believe that the MH professionals who are hopefully, by this time, working with him, recognize the manipulation.  The SW that met with my parents last night at the hospital (after she had met with him) needed the full story from them - because not surprisingly - his version of the story did not seem to "meld" with needing a MH screening.

Thanks again :)
