Well it has to be a special day for me to be up out of bed early on a Sunday morning and it is because today is Dennis' 5 year surgiversary.

The last 5 years Dennis has made this community his home and been an important figure to so many. He has given a shoulder of supoprt to so many when we have needed it and when he needs it he has learned to reach out to the community and ask for support in return.

His road was not 100% smooth but it has made him a stronger even more if you can believe it comapassionate man to others. I have seen him worry and fill with emotion if anyone says the word obsrtruction. He really does care for so many. I understand that is why he has earned the title by some as Papa and even by a few "God" in regardss to this surgery. I will tell you that Dennis is humbled by those terns and sees himself as just another patient along this journey not any of those titles.

This joureny of WLS has lead us to each other and he is MY best friend and soul mate in life. I cannot be more proud of him plus I will be walking hand & hand with him the next 5 years of this journey.

I love you I do Bigman!

You have been such an amazing source of inspiration, hope, and strength to me during this first year of my WLS journey.  I've seen you comfort and inspire so many people to rise to their potential and succeed.  You're truly a very special person, with a tremendous gift for touching peoples' lives.

I'm so privileged to know you and call you friend!  Congratulations on your 5-year surgiversary!

Happy Surgiversary Dennis!

You are truly an inspiration to so many people on the boards and off.  You have shared with us every step of your journey including, the good, the bad and the ugly.

What more could we ask for?

Thank you so much for being such a wonderful role model for so many people.

Happy surgiversary, Dennis!!!!  I first met you at the OH conference in Philly in 2008.  You introduced yourself to Paul and I while we were getting coffee during one of the breaks.  At the time, I was just considereing wls and was terrified at the idea of it.  You were so friendly that day that it put me more at ease, and I started following your posts on OH.  You've made this a much more amazing journey, and each time I talk with you, I come away with more pearls of wisdom and feeling like you truly care about each and every one of us.  Thank you for all you do for us, Dennis!!!

Ahh...my brother from another mother!  Congratulations to you!!  I remember the day I met you...I didn't know at that time what a big part of my life you would become, but know that I am so grateful that I didn't let my fears keep me from coming to the sg that day.

You da man!  :)

Luv ya!

Happy Surgiversary Dennis...that is awesome.  You are the first person I remember meeting at my first Barix meeting.  Your kindness and dedication to helping us pre- and post-op has been a gift to me, and all the others here.

Hugs,
Trish

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

Dennis,

There is very little that I can add to all the accolades mentioned here.  I often think of "Brad Pitt's" calling out to you at the Barix meetings - "and your name is?"

You are an awesome hugger and a great ambassador for WLS.  Thank you so much for sharing yourself and your story.  You are one of the most welcoming people that I have ever met.

Happy, happy, happy surgiversary  Take care.

Love, Donna

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!
