Survivng Day 3

So Day 2 of the pouch test was pretty easy as well and in my heart I really think this is because I am scared of the regain and know I need to refocus. I had a yogurt when I got home last night then had soup. When I had the urge to munch I just cracked another powerade while I watched TV.

This morning though I was excited to wake up and get to chew ...I will say that taking my chewable vitamins Monday and Tuesday were heaven.

I came down started to pack my lunch and felt very light headed so I knew I needed protein so while it may not have been soft I had a cheese stick but took my time eating it very slow. I had to have it pass because I had to drive to work.  So for today I packed a protein shake. egg salad and tuna salad. I also have a back up yogurt in the fridge and for dinner I will have some shrimp. Plus my new drug Powerade Zero to drink all day long.

I picked up my copy of the Anatomy of Food Addiction to start to reread this time to the very end and last night I ordered the whole Beck Diet Solution books. I didn't go for that walk last night because after work I did run errands before arriving home then Dennis and I spent some time talking about important things. So I felt the night was productive for what the mood of the Cowgirl has been this week.

Good for you. The beck book and work book are enough I think her newest book is more of a recap. LOL It takes a long time to get through the books so take your time. Dont overwhelm yourself. So proud of you

Good Job Beth !  I remember when I was a new post-op on liquids and absolutely adoring my Centrum chewables.  Now....eh, not so much, but they are still easier than swallowing a giant horse pill of a vitamin.

Keep up the good work.

Again, Good Job Beth!!   You've reminded me, I've got that book under a pile on my end table.  I think I'll take it out and read it too.  We should all read that one.    Ride on Cowgirl!  Say Hi to the old man for me .   I miss his sweet self, it's been a while.

Good job Beth!!  It's all good from here on out!!  I did the pouch test 2 weeks ago to get rid of the carbs...it works wonders!  No carb cravings what-so-ever now!!  (I was even able to resist pizza at a meeting on Monday night!)

Beth,

Love reading your daily post about your pouch test.  Great information for me to sock away for that day when it comes time for for me.

Do you have any trouble with your sugar dropping drastically while you are doing this.  The reason I'm asking is Gene can't seem to be able to do this because his sugar drops really low and he has to eat food.  He wanted to try this but had to stop because of the drastic drop and they come on so quickly for him it's really scary.

Hi Ida,

I was doing ok till yesterday morning and felt very light headed so I got a cheese stick and it helped. I noticed this morning I had a light headed feeling but was ok till I got to work and had breakfast. If I was Gene I would follow what my body needs.

Thank you also for enjoying my post ....

He does follow what his body is needing.  He has to since he ended up passing out one day from not following what his body was telling him.  It seems the further out he gets the more trouble he has at times with the sugar bottoming out at times.  He/we are very cautious when we travel to take plenty of protein/carb combination for him otherwise we know we are in trouble.

I always enjoy your posts, they are always full of great information that I put away till I need it.  I don't get to post often anymore since work blocked OH, and then when I get home from work and gym it's usually too late.   I do read daily what's happening with everyone :-)

I am sorry to hear that Gene did pass out from the drop in blood sugar. But sounds with both of you aware you are on top of it now days. This journey is one that never ends that is for sure and we are always learning about our bodies.

It has felt good to be posting the last few days seems i had gotten away from writing and posting here even though I had been reding everyday. But recent struggles led me back to know I am not traveling this path alone. Hoping to see you soon!

I do miss being able to drop in on here during the day while at work.  Now I just work, work, work, can't figure out how I had the time to do homework a few short months ago.

I am hoping to see you all soon.  I see the first Saturday in May is May 1st so hopefully we'll make it to the first Saturday.  Things are so crazy with me graduating, Gene graduating, and my dad's 90th birthday coming up.

If I find that we can't make the Saturday I think I will make definate plans to get there on the Wed night meeting.  Keep your fingers and toes crossed that nothing blows up at work.  We are in the midst of some major changes that I am right in the fore front of sooooo if it blows up like one senerio that's been thoroughly researched, I might have to take a sleeping bag to work.....till the dust settles.....
