Terrific Tuesday Roll Call

Yes, I'm an hour early but will be on the road the rest of this week...

And had to share the news that our new granddaughter, Lilly, made her entrance into the world at 9:30 this evening.

Lilly lives in northern Vermont, and has a big sister Alisa, who is 4.

She is our 13th grandchild! We got to hear her cry over the phone when she was 20 minutes old. They didn't even have her weight yet! All is well and we are SO excited!

(And if you are wondering, grandchild #14 will join us in June!)

Well...if it's something like THAT I guess we'll let you slide on the time difference!  CONGRATS!!!

So...on the road...are you going to Vermont?  Enjoy the new little one!

Let's see...Tuesday....

Morning will be the gym and doing the housework I chose not to do this afternoon.

Brother and gf are supposed to be here around 11.  *cough cough* We shall see about THAT one now!

Gonna hang with them....I don't think there's anything they "want" to do or what not....so we'll see how the day pans out.  I want to make some home made pizza dough and have "make your own mini pizza's" for dinner if we are not gonna be out and about around dinner time.

They will be leaving in the evening, his gf has work the next day, so that'll probably wrap it up for us, too

Don't I WISH we were heading to Vermont! But I have a series of work meetings in Philly today through Friday...it will be another week before we can go north to see  the baby, cook a lot of "mom food", and just generally enjoy it all.

Pam,

Good luck with your brother and gf today...  remember to "just breathe" and keep the stress level low.  Control what you can and let go of what you can't - all the wonderful advice you gave to me ;-).

Congrats to you and your family on this new little one.  I got to spend Monday evening with my two grandchildren, who are so precious.  I will post pics later.

Monday was so intense I did not do Roll Call at all.  Now, I cannot sleep, because of the anxiety and stress over this fun time of having the grands, my kids and my mom in town.  Pray for me, the last two times my daughter and Mom were in town together I ended up relapsing within a few days of their departures.  Don't ask...too complex for more details.

Tuesday should see me at school, and then to my ex's to visit the grandbabies one more time before they return to Michigan.  Then, I am supposed to go to my new treatment group.  I hope it is better than the previous one last week.  After group, I will head to PetSmart to pick Utley from daycamp.  Too long a day to leave him home alone.

I am reveling in this weather.

Hugs,
Trish

Trish, tell your daughter you have a WLS friend who's got Michigan roots. I'll be headed out for Mother's day weekend to see my mom in Rochester and daughter in Ann Arbor.

Trish, I will pray for you to be strong through this time. I know that the dynamics of family are complex....difficult at times. There's an old proverb (Yiddi****hink) that says, "My blessing is my burden." Don't know if that applies for you, but it does for me....often!

Hug those little ones!

Thanks Lynn,
My daughter is outside of Lansing...huge Michigan State fan, as she got her Masters there.

I understand that saying about blessings being burdens.  I love both Mom and Colleen (daughter) dearly, and would give them a kidney if needed.  BUT, the complexities of Mom/Daughter relationships just creates so much angst for me, it triggers feelings of inadequacy and shame.

My grandkids are such blessings I sacrifice my sanity where Colleen is concerned to enjoy them.

Thanks for understanding.

Hugs,
Trish

Trish, I did my undergrad degree at Michigan...so we are definitely GO BLUE fans here! But....I did root for the Spartans in the Final Four. As the old saying says, "Some of my best friends are Spartans!"

Certain situations do put the mom/daughter dynamic under the magnifying glass. For me, seeing my mom post WLS has been one of those situations. I saw her at Christmas and was SO fearful of her reaction - even though she was proud of my weight loss, I feared that it wouldn't be good enough for her. Now as I plan to go out to visit her again...I am bracing my self for that feeling once again. She has seen a pic of me taken a few weeks ago and criticized my hair style. Huh? The logical side of me knows that's ridiculous, but the other side....welll.....

You know the best thing about being a grandma? Seeing your child be a good parent! I get such joy from that. I have my opinions of course but try to mostly keep them reasonable....recognizing it's not "my turn" with this next generation.  And if there is any comfort in knowing you are not alone, I can certainly commiserate with you on the guilt/shame/inadequacy part. I've found my own outlet in doing some writing and that has helped greatly with processing the bad parts.

Take care! L.
