Frustrated...
So I have been having a rough couple days in the food department. I start off eating the right stuff, but when it comes to the food agreeing with me, I have problems. By agreeing with me, I mean not giving me that stuck, foamy, I feel like crap feeling. I have days when this happens now and then, as I think we all do (I hope), but its been a couple days of this. Foods I can often eat without issue, I am having trouble with. Making things worse, I've been turning to easy slider type foods so I actually eat something. Example.... yesterday for dinner, I had a little piece of turkey, little piece of ham. Poultry i**** or miss with me, ham is usually fine. I ate a couple pieces of each and I felt awful. I ended up assisting myself in throwing up and felt better. I turned to some mashed potatoes and just ate that. The night before, I tried a little piece of very tender steak and same deal.
Now I am realistic and completely feel that the problem lies with me. The buck stops here. Losing weight for the past year was easy and I know I have gotten a little lazy with some of the rules. I think it's catching up to me. I drink before meals, I graze too much. I may not chew enough, too big of pieces, too quickly. I'm putting myself in this lousy situation. I haven't gained any weight, but I haven't really lost anything in a while. I just need to get my head out my ass and focus on what I am doing.
So what do I do. I see people talk about the pouch test. Is that something that can help you get your pouch and your head back on track? I need a reset button. I'm getting frustrated with my own stupidity.
HELP!

I am almost 3 1/2 years out and STILL have this problem from time to time. You hit the nail on the head - we get "lazy". CHEW CHEW CHEW. Poultry for me too i**** or miss, and I love it which makes it hard. I had turkey yesterday and felt pretty crummy for a while.
5 Day pouch test is a great thing to get your head back in the game and "reset" your pouch. I'll help to cut any carb issues you are having and will work to retrain your brain to get back in control. if you google "5 day pouch test" you'll get the "rules". I won't lie - the first day is rough, but it is totally do-able.
Good luck!

The grazing catches up with you, especially during holidays when you might be picking here and there and not noticing as much.....then whammo, when you eat your "big" meal, you are full-up after only a couple bites. Sounds like you know you aren't being as cautious as you once were so take your own advice and step back into the rules (maybe taking a day for liquids to make tell your pouch who's in control).

1 choice @ a time > 1 day @ a time. Slow to Succeed is still Success ;-)
I'm with Karen - I'm wondering stricture territory
But, you could also be well accountable for your issues and your lack of following the rules.
Yes, the 5dpt does reset your head...I didn't use it to lose weight...I used it to reset my thick skull.
I think your best bet is to start with at least a few days of full liquids, mimicing the 5DPT if you will.
Move on slowly and see how it goes. If you have any problems with food during that reintroduction, definately call your surgeon and get an appointment...probably for an endo (and I know a nurse who would pay a good sum of $ to be in the room while you were on versed to hear your incoherent, and potentially black mailable mumblings) to make sure it isn't something physical as opposed to mental.
You can do this - regardless of the reason :) We'll kick your ass if needed

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses. ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/thumbsup2.gif)

Pam - there is no amount of money I would accept to allow you or anyone personally associated with me in the room while I was under a little sedation. My skeletons (not to mention my inner most thoughts) can remain shoved in very back corner of the closet and/or with total strangers, thank you very much!
Karen - yes, that has crossed my mind. Erin had some narrowing of her stoma and was dilated a couple months ago. Like any good medical professional, I will ignore your sound, logical advice and try this pouch thing first.![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/wink_smile.gif)
I'm starting tomorrow, wish me luck.
My thought for the day is and pardon me if I stole this from one of you.... Nobody can do this for me, if I want to succeed I need to do it for myself.
Goodnight everyone!

Since I slept most of the day away, I seem to be wide awake now. What I, too, would give to be in the room with u while under sedation. I think it would be quite entertaining and educational. Lol.
Anyway, I was planning on starting the pouch test this week too so I could detox from Passover. Looks like I did start it, just minus the protein. I will fini**** this week and see how it goes. We can support each other through this. We can let each other know what we r eating and need to post to the daily menu thread. We can get through this.
Like Pam and Karen said though, please pay attention and if things aren't better, call Dr. Boorse.

be careful is in the back of my head like Liz and Pam said and sorry Lisa I will pass on being in the room while anyone is sedated no thanks. As far as steak be careful with that I found that rib eye is tender as prime rib and filet mignone high in fat also but once in awhile should't be bad. I tried london broil and OMG look out world I spent more time chewing than eating so I gave that up. By the time I chewed it enough the flavor was dry, dry, dry. Chicken and I divorced since my wls and that was dumping three times no thanks to that either however turkey works thats weird. Make sure to not let it get extreme then you will wish you listened to our in house nurse Pam because she is 99% right when it comes to med issues! I have seen her right on the money and Liz too. Grazing now you know what you need to do with that without any of us telling you. This tells you and all of us you are not working the tool as Shauna said at one of our meetings if you have to look in the refridge or cabinets for something to eat you are not planning your meals and meeting your goals so think about that for one minute. Pouch test may help but make sure this is not a stricture and follow the yellow brick road. You are not stupid just off track and being smart by discussing this with all of us.
