Lies Lies Blog Update
Read you blog. first and foremost it reminded me that I must keep up with my blog for reference later. Second... I loved you being so insightful.
we tell ourselves things everyday to get through the day. I don't think they are lies.. I think they are truths of the moments. We don't know that reaching that goal will or wont make us happy.. but we think it will and that is our hope.
I love you Nicole and think you are an amazing person and you need to be happy. You just need to find the way.

I never ever update my blog - perhaps something I really really SHOULD do (hmmm where have I heard THAT before...oh that's right...YOU)
Many of us have put expectations on ourselves and have had expectations PLACED on us throughout our lives....school as a child and adolescent, job activities, furthering ones self in so many different directions. I look at the children of today and see them torn in so many different directions - scholastic achievements, sports, hobbies...all of which they are expected to excell in, or at the very least, do...so they are "well rounded" It's no wonder we have an entire generation of children younger than ever before on anti-depressants, anti-anxiety, ADHD meds.
Ok...so that was a rant....but tied into being happy with ones self AND showing happiness towards others, which reinforces their emotions of self happiness.
You have come a far way in so many respects...and yes...you still have a lot of self work to do - but being open, honest, and understanding of that is NOT a lie and will help you achieve whatever dream you do set for yourself.
Do goals make you happy, completely? Maybe not. But they pave the way as a stepping stone to reach that ideal.

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses. ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/thumbsup2.gif)

Great insightfulness, Nicole. The big question is: What is happiness? I think we have to live in the moment and really appreciate what is going on at the time and maybe not worry so much about achieving the big goals. I know it's important to have goals, but I think we can get lost in dreaming about the future and not being content in the moment. ???????
Anyway, I love and appreciate your honesty. I always think hard about your writings and that is a good thing.

Thank you for posting this Nicole. As a newbie it underscores the reality of keeping my expectations in check. I still go back and forth about whether or not to go through with WLS. "Maybe I can lose a good amount of weight pre-surgery and change my mind" -NOT- although I'm still trying. You can counsel me anytime
--Most sincerely, Carol
