Ok so I am waking up in the middle of the nite with a severe pain in my gut, if I eat something it goes away.  I have used protein bars, and keep it on the nite stand, and take a bite or two and go back to sleep.  I used EAS bars, but would like something better, either protein bar wise, or something that I could make and keep by the bed, so I don't have to get up and go to bed.  Also we are going to Disney in May, just my daughter and I and I am looking for something that I could carry in my pocket to eat protein wise.  We want to try and avoid take a purse or waist bag, and go in with only our wallets in our pockets, so space will only be avail. in pockets.  Ideas anyone?
Thanks in Advance, Ena

One of the best ideas I've heard was to cut a protein bar into bite size pieces and put in a ziploc bag. Of course, you wouldn't want one with a chocolate coating!

String cheese might work too, inividually wrapped.

Thanks, I just mentioned to my daughter today about cutting up the protein bar and using a ziplock snack bag.  Great minds think alike.  I am not really a dairy person, but I am going to try and force myself with the cheese, I know that I need it and it will help kill two birds with one stone.

Are you eating a snack before bed? If not try eating something 30-60 minutes before bed and see if that helps. You shouldn't need to eat in the middle of the night. Also try a few sips of water when you wake up at night. If this persists I'd call the surgeon. Could be something like your gall bladder or ulcers. When I had my ulcers they always seemed to strke in the middle of the night. Are you still on pepcid or something like that? if you aren't try taking that for a few weeks before bed too.

As for Disney. Cut up protein bars in baggies are a life saver for me! You can also do the same with beef jerkey, nuts or a portion of protein powder that you can mix with a bottle of water (there has to be 100 places to ge****er in Disney)

Most importantly have fun!

Thanks Liz, I did mention the pain at my 3 month post op visit, and was told to remember to take my nexium.  The pain is three fingers above my belly button, I do try to eat almonds or something before bed.  If I get the pain during the nite, I eat a bite or two of the protein bar and in about 15 minutes it lets up.  Thanks for the other suggestions, this will be our second trip to Disney this year, we went in Jan., but this time it will be without the cranky SIL, and the three grandchildren.  We are going to travel lite, with as little baggage as possible.  I was warned to make sure I keep up on my vitamins as Lisa is gona run me ragged.  (the park is open til 2am one day)  I will be running around, and you will be rocking your brand new baby.  I can't wait to see pictures, and am so excited for you.

I like the idea of the nuts and stuff and a portion of protein powder in a ziplock baggie...but I'm wondering if they would question white powder in your pocket if they "search"  you at all?  It's been years since I've been.....have fun!
