To Dye or not to Dye - that is the question

So, I am at 3.5 months and my hair is thinning (sucks, but I expected it).

I have cut my hair very short so that most of it slips down the drain unnoticed (trying to trick myself - silly as that may sound).

I am afraid to dye my hair for fear of causing more to fall out.. so my "natural grey highlights" are taking over.

Anyone have experience with dyeing while your hair is thinning or should I just buckle up, go grey and ride it out?

I get my hair highlighted every 8 weeks - havent stopped and my hairdresser has helped me with styles that hide the hair loss.  I don't think it changed the rate in which my hair fell out.  Also, I had already been getting my hair colored for a long time before surgery so I didn't even think about NOT doing it after surgery.  Talk with your hairdresser and see what they have to say.

Dye!!  Thats why God made it dead LOL  and really, mine feels thicker after my colorings.   Never caused it to fall out more!

I kept dying.. dang, my secret's out. LOL

Your stylist can help with the cut and highlights or something, too, that can make it less noticeable.

My Mom is a hairdresser and has been for over 30 years, we highlighted my hair through the entire process of it falling out. She told me it makes the hairs a bit "thicker" so they look a little fuller.I too chopped my hair for 2 reasons, so I didn't see the big long ones in the drain (Actually made me cry on several occasions), and 2 because with less hair there is less pulling on them and they stay in there better.

SO I say go for what makes you feel good!

I dye my hair every 6-8 weeks. Have been for about 15 years. I never changed that. I have alot of greys for my age and well.......I don't let them show. I have been through several bouts of hair loss since my surgery 5 years ago, and I still dye it.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I too went shorter with my hair style and kept dying it.  It does make your hair thicker and gave me one less thing to feel self conscious about.  At least if I had hair all over my clothes, it was BROWN !!!

I'm sold - I am extending the time for my next appt!  Thanks for the feedback..

It may sound silly, but I was having visions of her rinsing off the dye and my hair all going down the drain....

It doesn't sound silly!

Have fun!
