Gluten-free?
My doc strongly suggests I add gluten-free to the mix....
Is anyone here doing gluten-free and extremely low dairy? If so, how are you managing? Getting your protein?
I know. Beans, right? I still haven't figured out how to make beans appealing, try as I might. Any good recipes?
Anyone know of any gluten-free products I don't have to skip paying the rent to buy?
Thanks in advance!
Lisa

My DIL has celiac disease and is 100% gluten free.....there are many products out there that are gluten-free and taste good. Since we WLS peeps try to prepare out own meals, avoiding gluten is not so hard once you get started.....lots of groc stores have gluten free sections, as do restaurants. In fact, when I go to Philly to see my son and DIL, we often go to PF Cheng;s...they have a special gluten free menu--an entire menu!!! Their lettuce wraps are great.
If you eat bread, I have found that many GF breads are awful BUT if you can locate Grainless Baker products, they are great. I'm so proud 'cause they are baked up here in my area. Check their website--they ship their product.
There are many wonderful recipes on line and even a magazine devoted to a gluten-free lifestyle.
Meat is fine on a gluten free diet, although my DIL must be careful to read labels even on 'fresh meat' products...If broth is added, then the product contains gluten. My question is why? (let's not get started on additive!)
Hope I've helped you a bit.
