A whole year...........

Wow I hit my one year surgiversary on Sat. March 20. I have been thinking about this for about a week now. I can't believe that it has been that long already. I remember early out thinking that I would never make it to the one year mark and now here I am looking back at it. My life has changed in so many wonderful ways. I am doing things I never thought would be possible, and reaching and making new goals that just one year ago I never even dreamed of. I can paint my toes while laying my chest on my lap. I can breath easily while doing this too. Who would have ever thought it was possible ! I can cross my legs. Right over left and left over right. I sit like that all the time, Just cause I can! I struggle now with eating too little instead of WAY too much. I am conscious of everything that goes into my mouth. Not that the food choices I make are always good ones. (Just last night I ate potato chips and way more of them than I should have. But my new Little Tummy let me know that I shouldn't have had that many carbs and that much grease) I can run circles around my hubby now. I can sweep the floors in all the rooms of my house without having to stop for a break every 15 minutes. I don't get out of breath. The pain I was dealing with is knocked down to a low ache most of the time. I can shop in the regular sizes (which might not be a good thing, cause I have also discovered that I like shopping now. Always hated it before) I am actively looking for a job, I hadn't been able to work in like 13 years and I feel that good that I really believe I can go back to working full time. I enjoy exercise! Wow never thought thhose words would come out of my lips!! (Don't do it as often as I should, still working on that) All in all I can't begin to count all the wonderful ways my life is different now. I love my new life, I love being healthy, and I enjoy living again. This was definately the right decision and I am so very glad that I decided to go for it. I have made so many wonderful new friends on this site, and I truly don't know what I would have done without all the guidance and support I have found here. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for helping me through this first year of my new life. I can't wait to see what else this journey has in store for me and to share it with all of you. Luv Ya Belinda

Everyone's first year journey is an amazing one and yours was certainly paved with some uncertainty in the beginning.  Congrats on sticking to it and successing is soooooo many ways.  So many more avenues are being opened for you, and that is FANTASTIC!

Enjoy the next stage of successing

Oh, and I also think it's FABULOUS that you can not only look back on what you have accomplished, but are looking forward on where you WANT to be and what areas continue to need work in!
Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

Belinda,

Congratulations on your surgiversary.  You have accomplished a great deal this past year.  It is hard to believe how different our lives are than they were this time last year.  Those little, every day successes are key.  I keep on looking behind me for my butt and IT'S NOT THERE - that is the thing that I am proudest of so far.

You are a great presence on the board and are giving back to others what they have given to you.  Best of luck with your next set of goals.  Take care.
