I'M A Newbie Too

Hi I am not really a newbie to this site>  I have been a lurker but have gotten so much info from this site.  Up till Thursday,  I didn't have a surgery date.  I was told it would probaly be 1-2 months after approval from my insurance.  I received that wednesday morning.  My Doctor's PA told me I needed to get an updated stress test (which I got this morning) before I could be scheduled.  They scheduled me this afternoon for April 9th.  But the secretary told me something funny.  Before she gave me my date she said that my Hematology and Stress reports had some disturbing news.  She said that both approved me for surgery but that I might have a problem because of my continued smoking....Well I don't smoke at all.  The cardiologist that reviewed my test only said hello to me and that he would be monitoring my test.  I never filled out any paperwork for the test or answered any questions so I don't know where he got that I smoked.  The hematologist asked me if I smoked and I said no never.  I think it is very weird that they both said the same thing with no information.  It became a joke with my wife that I was out of cigarrettes and was going to pick some up.  I now am feeling anxiety about the surgery.  It always seemed like an impossible dream and so far on the horizon.  Now it is very real!!!!  So I hope that I can get some good friends on here and a lot of help and advice....Hopefully I will be able to post a pic soon...All the ones I have loaded are too large...Thanks in advance for your friendship and guidance

wow I wonder if they have the wrong results I would check up on that..

So strange that 2 docs are showing that you are a smoker.  I would definitely go back to them to find out what happened.

The smoking thing...I would ask them EXPLICITLY which tests were showing you were a smoker and what the potential problem could be and if there is follow up that needs to be done either before or after surgery.

April 9 is just around the corner - hang on for a wild ride!

I'd definately call the PA this morning and see why they are saying you are a smoker, I hope that they didn't put someone else's records in your file!

Carol Mccloskey is my surgeon and I am having my surgery at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh...This Hospital was traditionally for child delivery and female issues but it is now open to men too.  I will definitely check on Monday about the smoking issues in my file.  The PA was not available today as this is a day they perform surgery.  Thanks for all the good wishes.  I did not sleep well last night due to anxiety about the surgery.  It is finally going to happen and I guess I realized it last night
