Newest update on Karen
I saw Eddie at about 4pm or so. The surgeon had come out about 2:45 or so (right about when I left, go figure!) and said she was in recovery. She was still in recovery when I left which was a few mins after 4....
On my way home she texted me thanking all of us for our well wishes and what not once again.
Apparantly the whole story (which I got when I hung out with her before surgery) is that two nights ago she had some pain but thought it was gas or "mallitol gas" as she called it. She said she felt pretty much fine yesterday, but after the meeting started with some indigestion. Throughout the night it got worse and she realized at about 6:30 in the morning that it wasn't moving from that one spot, and was getting increasingly worse. She rationalized (correctly) that if it was gas, it would have moved around....so she had Eddie bring her to the ER early in the morning.
I did think ahead a little bit and ran out to the Giant near the hospital and brought her some sf puddings, muscle milk lite and activia lite (as per her menu posts I know she's been drinking them) and also some bottled water and a thing of crystal lite packs. I assume she'll be on a clear and/or full liquid diet for at least tonight so I stuck with that sort of stuff.
I dropped it off with Eddie when I saw him. He didn't want me waiting around because they didn't know what time she was getting out of recovery so I left her in his capable hands (and the hospital staff as well)
So....I assume she's in a room now although I don't know which one...and she's obviously lucid enough to text :)
All in all sounds pretty "text book" to me.
Continued best wishes for Karen and family!!

Thanks for keeping us all posted and being such a wonderful friend for Karen today.
I opted not to stop at the Hospital figuring she wouldn't have been in a room yet and I want her to rest not "entertain".
Sounds a lot like what I went through with my appendix - it wasn't a horrible pain until right before I went to the ER. More of a dull achy gas like pain.
Thanks again for keeping us posted! I am so glad that Karen is OK.
Oh and I should add that Chris was on edge all day - he doesn't like when anything is up with any of his "girls" lol

Chris is to kind! Tell him he can relax now!
I had told Karen via text you probably weren't stopping by tonight. She was glad to hear - because she wanted you to rest, too. Couldn't help but laugh at the irony....she wanted you to rest, you wanted her to rest....everyone wants everyone else to rest, hee hee

Private duty nurse! Ha! I'd be fired for the job I did today...I just stood there chatting with her until Eddie came back, lol (oh - and I made mention that they had obviously hung an antibiotic - put a label on it and everything - but neglected to label it with WHAT drug was in it. tisk tisk. And the nosey nurse didn't know what antibiotics she was getting, lol)
