Question about Max protein and a vent
First off I was wondering why I keep getting clumps with my max protein? I like to add it to fat free milk and ice and blend it, but there always seems to be clumps in it, is there a better way to blend it so that I do not have the clumps? I was doing slim fast but wanted a better protein/less sugar shake and I loved the way it mixed, but I have not been able to get the Max to mix as well...any suggestions would help.
I guess my second thing is really more of self pity thing then a vent. I went to the outlets and for the first time I tried on clothes not in a plus store. I could fit in a size 12, though a little snug....well you would have thought I would be happy with that but no, it made me sad. I want to be in a 8, which I know is just crazy. I should be happy that I went from a size 26 to a 12, but I guess I am a little disappointed with where I am at. After losing 115 pounds I should be happy...but my body disgust me and I am just sad with all of it.
Thanks for listening!

Loree,
First off, see my reply on FB, which I think gets to the heart of your self-pity issue. What I didn't want to say over there (too public) is that I think the deprivation that comes from giving ALL of ourselves to the care of others is what drove a lot of us "here" in the first place. We see ourselves as not being worthy of the time to care for ourselves, thus feeding into our poor self-images, and reinforcing the negative messages that drive us to eat.
I know it's tough, but holy cow, woman - you're in a size 12!!! Not a 26! That's a smaller-than-the-average-american-woman size! (Yep - the average american woman is a size 14.)
Find the time to care for yourself in whatever way(s) you need - exercise, a massage, reading a book, getting your nails done, whatever. Help your family see that your self-care is an important and integral part of your health - and that THEIR self-care is an important part of their own health. Give yourself the same respect and care that you give to those around you - love yourself. Work that for a bit and I'll bet you start seeing your physical self in a different light.
As to your Max protein question, I mix mine with a magic bullet with ice and milk and haven't had any issues with lumping... are you using some type of mechanical mixer for it? I did find with some of the protein powders that they have to be the last thing that I put into the blender before turning it on... if I add the liquid to the powder (instead of the powder to the liquid) it doesn't blend as well and leaves unmixed bits adhering to the side of the glass.
Hugs!
Karen

I saw your reply on Facebook and thanks for the advice. I have no family here and very few "friends" my husbands family is who I have to rely on and well it is not working out and has not for 5 years. I think my husband actually sees that we need to look outside of family if we are ever going to get time for us as a couple and as individuals. If I am not at school I am here with my kids...and I feel I get judge when I say I need a break. I know I need to get this time for myself or I am going to drown in these feelings I am having. The only saving grace for me is that I have not turned to food, but I have resorted to yelling alot which is not good either. I know I should be thrilled and I think if I was happy at the moment I would be, but too much is going on in my head for me to see it.
I am using a blender to mix it, I will try putting the powder in first and see if that helps...I am getting the unmixed stuff on the glass and it is bugging me!
Thanks again for replying and the advice.

*hugs* I am sorry that you get a guilt trip when you want time to yourself! That's not fair. How old are your kids? I think they are little right? If your hubby won'****ch the kids for a few hours so you can get out on your own hire a baby sitter or see if you can trade off with one of your friends - maybe a WLS friend in the city would watch them for a bit for you just so you can go shopping, get your hair done or just be in the house by yourself for a bit!
A size 26 to a 12 is awesome! I am 5'8" and went from a tight 28 to a 14 before I got pregnant and I too wanted to see that size smaller. I'm down to 198 (pre-pregnancy) from 327 at my PAT's. Sometimes it is hard to see the big picture the further out we get because we only see what we have now. My suggestion is to get a "before" photo that you hate and hang it somewhere you see it everyday along with a "now" pic that you love. You can put it somewhere private, in your wallet, on your bathroom mirror, in your closet etc. But seeing the "old" you will remind you how far you have come. I am sure too that the emotional issues are playing into your body issues right now too.
WE are always here for you! Wish I was closer - I'd watch the kids for you :)

I live in the Northeast too, around the Roosevelt Mall area. My oldest just turned 5 and my twins are 3. I am going to school full time to become a teacher. I graduate in May from community with my AA and I will start Holy Family in the fall to finish. Maybe we could get together some day. Thanks to everyone for always being so kind.
I don't use max protein....so I don't have any advice as far as that is concerned.
I hear ya about the clothes thing....hell...there are days NOW when I've basically maintained for well over 18 months, that I can't stand the way I look and think I should be smaller or what have you. Hang in there and definately go back and look at some old pics!!
Vent here anytime....now time to get off your pity party and enjoy your new life!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses. ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/thumbsup2.gif)
