My Woo Hoo
Terrific progress John!
I am finding that a lot of my old favorite recipes are actually pretty WLS friendly - with minor changes. Tonight I made pepper steak.
And I agree that there is a real tendency to get into food ruts. The boards help with that a lot! I love it when someone posts a recipe that they can vouch for!

That's awesome!!!
Trying new recipies is a FANTASTIC idea. It sounds emotionally hard for you to cook without your daughter. I'm glad your friend loves to cook and can do so for you. But - if you wanted to "reconnect" with your daughter with cooking - do you converse w/ her via email or any other means? Maybe you could each pick out a recipie you would have liked to make together, decide on what night you will make it - and then make it "together but separately" at your different houses and be able to compare notes later? Sounds silly but just an off the cuff idea!
Anyway - for seafood - I like shrimp. I buy them frozen, already deveined and shelled (I prefer the tails still on) I put a tiny amount (like less than a teaspoon) of olive oil in a nonstick pan, put in some minced garlic, sautee for just a minute or so, add the shrimp, and coo****il just cooked through (don't overcook they get tough. Just until they turn pink and curl up) I finish with a squeeze of lemon juice and sometimes if I feel REALLY fancy throw on a handful of chopped parsley.

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses. ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/thumbsup2.gif)

Way to go John! Not just on losing the weight, but for getting your lady friend to cook for you.
I'm jealous. As far as recipes, there is a lot of good ideas that come across these pages. I print everyone out and save it, even if it doesn't appeal to me at the time. The World According to Eggface is a blog with a lot of recipes on it too. I'm sure there are many others too that are WLS friendly.
Good luck!
