I would love to go swimming and to a water aerobics class tomorrow, just wondering how long did you wait to go swimming and get stitches soaked? Thanks!

I don't remember advice from RNY doc, but I just had plastics and was told no swimming (pools or hot tub) for at least 3 months.  Plus make sure absolutely no open area --- must be completely healed over --- no scabs at all.

I was told no swimming for two weeks after my RNY, so I'd say you should be ok. I also did water aerobics early out, and I think I started at around six weeks out. Good luck!

You still have stitches?  Your surgery was in January, right?

I was allowed to take a shower day after surgery but was told no prolonged showering or wetting until A) the steri strips fell off B)  the wounds were healed w/ no open areas.

If I remember your surgery right...then you *should* be ok.

But if you have stitches or open areas - I would wait on that....

opps I meant to say incisions rather than stitches, my stitches were dissolved.  But I do have a little bit of scabbing- so I think I will wait a little longer... thanks everyone!
