Next time you're in wegmans or acme, look for the Tempeh that's in the refrigerator case (in the organic section in wegmans, produce section in acme).  It comes in a long block about 8" long, 3 in wide and maybe 1/2 in. thick - unfortunately i can't recall the brand and don't have any in the house right now.  There are several flavors - but none are a terribly pronounced flavor as it will get its main flavor from how you cook it.  I really like the one that's got the wild rice in it, pan fried until golden brown on each side with wegman's basting oil and a little garlic.  REALLY good!  Great crunchy/chewy texture.  You can also make a teriyaki sauce for it pretty easily.

I've also fallen for the Gardein meatless meals - their "chicken nuggets" and "beefless tips" are both amazingly good, and I hear their "hot wings" are incredible (I'm not a hot wing person, or i'd have tried them).  Freezer section in wegmans...

Enjoy!

When I asked the nuts at barix about Agave Nectar they told me it was a major no no... so I have stayed away from it...

Who knew that there was such a thing as sugar free honey.......

Sounds like I should probably check that out instead of the agave nectar.  We are heading to a new family Dr. next week to establish my boyfriend and his new heart/diabetes problems.  I think I'll ask the Dr. what he thinks.
