Subcommittes & Hurtful comments
Okay so I have been battling to lose the last 10lbs from my last pregnancy. I had lost weight and gotten to my goal as a result of being pregnant. I recently saw a parishioner at my temple who I have not seen in maybe 2 months. She really loudly said to me in front of everyone that I had gained weight. Mind you this woman is herself a size 16 but when I was pregnant she told me I was too skinny. I am a size 4 and had gotten down to size 2 and looked like death wormed over. SO my question is why did I let this woman make me feel "FAT"? I am so upset I cannot even tell you. This morning I pushed myself on my Elliptical and now feel like I am under the gun to lose those extra 10lbs. I am so hurt and upset by her comments and was so taken aback I did not have a smart aleck comment to come back with.
I totally agree with the other ladies. YOU ROCK GIRL !!! I am sure everyone who heard that comment couldn't believe how rude she was, and I bet they were thinking that she had no room to talk at all. Some people are just so amazingly stupid. But don't let her control your response. Don't push too hard to get your body to lose weight, you may be at your body's happy weight and you don't want to get to where you look sickly again. You so rock your tool don't let anyone take that away from you.
I know in your head it makes all the sense in the world to just shake a comment like this off.
But in your heart, it's another matter. Probably takes us back to the days when ALL comments about our appearance were negative, hurtful ones.
10 lbs. is doable. You know that.
But as for a comeback, I have discovered great power in the words, "I can't believe you would say that!" Puts them right back on the defensive for obnoxious remarks (and fits a variety of situations, believe me!)

Shilpa -
I'm sorry you had to go thru this. What a horrible woman.
You should work on your comebacks and throw some zingers right back when people like this are rude to you. How dare they treat you like crap !!! I know that two wrongs aren't supposed to make a right, but sometimes you just have to stand up for yourself. You are beautiful and you are not a doormat - don't let anyone walk on you !
Hugs,
Lisa

Shilpa,
Some people are just not happy and can't stand it if others are happy. So, they say stuff to us, just like that woman at Temple did. Ignore her. She could just be jealous of you. You look awesome!!!! As the others said, maybe you're at the weight where your body is happy. Or maybe you'll lose that 10 lbs. But either way, you've done an amazing job and look sooo freakin' good!!!!
