Welcome to the roll call and welcome to the board!  I can't 100% tell from your avatar, but you look familiar - have I met you at Barix meetings?  (Can't recall your name, sorry! I'm horrible with names...)

Lunch sounds yummy - would love to see a recipe for it!

Also sounds like your meal planning is going very well.  Congratulations!

I don't think we have formally met, but I have been to a few meetings - My name is Maura - I brought the Stevia stuff to the last Wednesday post op meeting (Purevia and Stevia sweetened protein samples - turns out that I am allergic to stevia..).

Chicken salad (I never measure anything - am bad that way)

~ 8 oz boneless chicken breast (cut small) and sauteed it in cooking spray - then cooled it (50gr prot/4gr fat/24 gr carb)
half bag ~ 6oz of broccoli slaw (pre-cut - I got it at McAffreys - not sure if all of the supermarkets carry it - 4 gr prot/0 fat/5g carbs)
Two scallions thinly sliced
Two tablespoons of Cindy's Kitchen brand Coconut & Ginger dressing Thai style (3.5 gr fat /1g sugar /1gr protein/2 gr carb / 1 gr fiber 100 cals for two tblsp - VERY tasty, I think I got it at Whole foods)

I am really bad about figuring the final value of things when I cook, so I always round up on fat and down on protein so that I don't kid myself

It made ~ 2.5 cups - call it 4 servings at 12 gr protein / ~2.5 gr fat per serving /~ 8 gr carbs / less than 2 g of sugar

I love to cook and I have not been cooking much since surgery and am just getting back in to the swing - my husband and i try to take a few hours every weekend and cook for the week - it felt good to get back in the swing

We also made beef stew - but chuck is just too high in fat, so he will eat well - I can probably only have ~ 1 oz and it just doesn't seem worth it.

Ah yeah - i Do remember you, actually!  Curious as to what the symptoms of stevia allergy are, as I've not really tried it yet (consciously, that is)...

The chicken salad recipe sounds very tasty!  i'll have to try that.

I make chicken salad by dicing my chicken (leftover rotisserie chicken or pre-cooked tyson chicken strips - doesn't really matter), then adding greek yogurt, sliced grapes, finely chopped celery and then salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried cilantro.  VERY yummy, and the greek yogurt gives it an extra protein boost.

As to figuring out values - I put my recipes into Sparkpeople.com's recipe calculator and it figured it all out for me (and saves it for the next time I want to make it).  Much less hassle that way.

Hope to see you next saturday at Barix!

It started with itching on my inner thighs (very attractive to scratch the insides of your thighs) - and then it spread to my calves - I thought that it was just dry skin - I lotioned up and the next day it wasn't as bad, then it cleared up - I had 1/2 of a packet in tea.  Well, then one day, I had it in oatmeal and tea and the itching was back, thighs, calves, arms - hives - itching like a crazy person - I was only 3 weeks post op and I was scared to death about what to take - I went to the supermarket and stood in the aisle trying to figure out what liquid allergy medicine I could take - scratching my legs like a crazy person while reading the label - It was the only new thing that I had introduced to my diet - and I also found some on line posts that these exact symptoms had been experienced by others.

short question, long answer - I am good at making a short story long..

Have a good Night!

Do you make your oatmeal with milk? Just a suggestion to add more protein - that's what I do :)

Can you be my ATM too?? lol

good idea on the milk, Liz.. sometimes I do, sometimes I don't... depends on my mood I guess.

She did good with the ATM thing.. she did more running around with her friends than playing the games.  I spent less than $10 and that included lunch.

They had sugar free hamantaschen (cookies) there for sale, so I bought a bag of 6. That was much better than making them myself where I woud have ended up with a couple dozen.  They are ok, but I think the filling may be an issue.  I'll have to see if it was a fluke that I ended up in the bathroom after I ate the one there or if I was dumping.  I'll try another at home and if it happens again, I'll either have Siehara eat them or I'll throw them out.

Good morning, PA!

Nothing going on today, except exercise, which I plan to get to in just a few minutes.  It's snowing again.  Gee, what an unusual sight!!!  lol

Have a great day, everyone!!

Good morning good Ole PA! and welcome new posters.

Since my sweetheart was so kind as to cancel his plans yesterday and take me to the outlets, I promised him a day of him being able to get things done. And relax. He has had a rough week of long hours at works, taking care of me and kids when he gets home and he deserves an afternoon of beer drinking and nascar racing. So I will oblige.

Around noon, my cousin is coming over to take Jantzen and I grocery shopping. I feel great walking around and so forth but still have to limit my lifting so I don't rip any of those internal stitches. The swelling is slowly going down and I am so excited to see and feel the actual results in the next few weeks.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day........

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Well, another day of construction in the Goeller household.  We didn't quite finish the subfloor last night, but it's definitely do-able today.  I'm heading out shortly to purchase the other materials that have to be done early on in the project (the backsplash metal tiles, the lighting, etc.), then home to get started schlepping lumber again.

Oh... and at some point I have to get all my tax info together for the accountant - yikes!

Hi everyone.  Not so much morning, but afternoon now.  I had a nice visit with my son and his daughter (2years old).  I don't get to see her too much as she lives with her mom so it was very enjoyable.

We're watching the USA/Canada hockey game then later will watch the Nascar race I DVR'd.  Kind of lazy but I'm still in recooperating mode.

Enjoy the rest of the day all.
