Magee Hospital

Anyone have revision surgery at Magee's in Pittsburgh? I am trying to get some info from my insurance and docs. I am supposed to see the Nutritionist this week. Still haven't got that approved. Had upper GI. Then hopefully appointment with Dr. Courcoulas. Has anyone heard about her? I called last year and was told her colleague was doing the revisions. Now she is again. She is head of the Bariatric Division for UPMC . Time will tell where this all ends up. Just wondered if anyone had any input. Thanks in advance!

I had my revision at Magee Womans Hospital.  I met Dr. Courcoulas and she is wonderful, but I am not sure if she does revisions?  I had Dr. Ramanathan who is one of her partners and I revised from band to Sleeve....he went over and above because I was in a pretty critical shape with my band just barely passing fluid thru.  He did a peer on peer consult with my insurance and got everything approved for me.......

I had Dr Courcoulas for my lap band.  She's a great dr.  Good luck in your journey!

Thanks Diane, I am glad all is going great for you! I had not heard anyone on these boards mention her and it is a great relief to hear from others who have had her as their Dr.

Dr. C is great, but I can't help on the revision end. She is a straight shooter so be ready with all your questions and she will answer them. IMO she is not one to come in and give you a bunch of info for an hour and send you on your way. Good luck and you will be taken care of by a great group.

Dr C is great. She did my lapband surgery 12-22-09. Unfortunately, my band was defective and she is replacing it tomorrow 3-3-10. I also agree with Mr Green, that the whole team there is great.
