Did anyone put any type of scar cream or cocoa butter on their incisions? If so how long after surgery and did it help? Thanks!

I was told not to put anything on the incisions. After I was all healed up I did get the OK to use lotion again. I am 3+ years post op and VERY fair skinned - you really have to look for my scars, they are almost gone.

Nope - I was told not to use anything on them until they were fully healed (I'm remembering 8 weeks for some reason???).  That's about when I started using Neutrogena's firming cream on my upper arms, abs, and thighs... it's helped a bit in terms of skin resiliency, and DEFINITELY helped a lot during the breakdown of the cellulite (the "crunchy" stage, i called it)...but nothing will ever REALLY fix the sagging other than plastics someday.

As to scarring, there's only one that's really still visible (10 months post op) and that only because it "pulled" in a bit so is indented, which gives it a shadow.  The others have disappeared very nicely as my belly has continued to shrink.

I am assuming it depends on your complexion because was told after I could peel the glue off I could use cocoa butter and/or aloe for my scars and that was about a week or so after surgery, but I have medium/dark brown skin.

I didn't do anything after the GBS, but I'm almost 4 weeks out from plastics and the recommendation is silicone scar strips.  I got one box of 7 (can cut) from CVS for $25 but then bought them on ebay.  My plastics doctor said buy the cheapest ones you can find, they are all the same material.

You can't use them til all the scabs are gone and healed over.  My stitches were taken out of my arms at 2 weeks so I started using them there.  I already see a difference.  Next week I should be able to use in the other areas --- tummy, breasts and legs.

I never heard of these. But may get some for after my tummy tuck. I don't have stitches to be removed but scabs. I am going to ask my surgeon when he returns back to the states if I can use them. My scar is VERY low and wont really be noticable to anyone, but what a great thing.

I used no lotions or anything after WLS and I had lap surgery. they faded so light that after awhile, I had to really search for the actual incisions marks. I had so many stretch marks from 4 kids that the incisions scars didn't even bother me or show up. LOL

Thanks everyone for your replies, I think I will just let them fade on their own and see how that works.  And Karen I wondered if that firming cream really worked- I will have to go out and get some of that to use in a couple weeks.  thanks!

Mine are completely gone... I put Dove Firming Lotion all over EVERYTHING.  However, I dont think they make it anymore....   regardless, moisturize with SOMETHING!
