So I call this morning and the nurse in the office said that my pcp wants me to get MRI of the brain and patoaterry glan that their was some abnormalitys in my blood work. Keep in mind last time I saw my pcp on the 2nd of this month he said my b12 was high and my protien was low other then that everything looks good. Now I'm scared what is wrong with me why do I have to go why wait so long to call me and tell me  I have to go at 1230 today I'm going to ask to speak with my pcp to find out why he waited so long what is the reason for the test and I want copy of my blood work. I'm freaking out scared what dose this mean what could be worng with me now???

Take a couple benedryl before you go. The MRI tech will crank up the tunes if you ask and then take a nap. I get my best sleep in the tunnel.

Doctors, because of so much litigation tend to over test just to be on the safe side. No point in worrying over what could be and then find out you worried yourself sick. It is what it is.

it could be alot of things and high or low b-12 can cause alot of things. Try to stay in the moment and wait until you get more info then you will know what to do next

 Thank you everyone!
Yes I did have the MRI done I was told that my pcp will have the results in 24-48 hours. I'm sure if it's bad he will have them sooner I'm sure by Friday he will have the results. I will be praying and thank you to everyone who is saying prayers for me. He ordered the MRI because some of my levels are off esp my patoaterry test is high nothing critial but high  I'm hoping it's not tumor. The blood work he did had hormone level testing done to them. I  will keep everyone updayted on what happens with this. They did MRi with contrast and wihtout contrast. I'm sure if it was bad I would have heard something today.

Regardless of if it is "bad" or not, results take time.  That's because a radiologist has to physically look at each "slide" of the mri and see if anything is abnormal or not.

Whoever said that doctors "over test" due to litigation, it's 1000% true.  Because people are so lawyer happy these days, and also in part due to insurances etc, things that wouldn't have been done awhile ago.

The pituitary gland controls things like thyroid function etc so if some of your thyroid labs were abnormal that may be have been why they were ordering tests of the pituitary gland.

Oh - and also keep in mind - even if the doctors office gets the results by friday doesn't mean YOU will get the results by Friday.  And with impending snow and people not being in the office etc etc etc their may be an even further delay.....

I know it isn't easy but try to remain calm. There can be LOTS of reason for these tests, and covering his a$$ is one of them. Everybody is right in saying that docs alot of times overtest to avoid litigation. And it may be into next week before you get any results so try not to freak out. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
