1)  The philly stair climb  March 20
http://www.mrsnv.com/evt/home.jsp?id=2873

I'm almost positive I will have the day before/day of off.  I'm NOT going to the conference...however...they did schedule me to work.  However, I already have TWO ppl who should be able to cover me, so between the two, I should be ok.  I will know by the end of the week.  And I will let you guys know.  If I do, I will register as a walker and anyone who wants to join me can.  Fundraising:  $100 per person

2)  The 3 day walk
http://www.the3day.org/site/PageServer
In Philly, once again.  October 15-17  The monetary issue is a HUGE one.  $90 reg fee (not counted towards your "donation") and then $2300 mandatory "donation" through personal fundraising etc.  I figure it this way...we all have multiple personal, working, email, and facebook relationships.  Plus many work places have a matching donation type program.  And, if there is a few of us doing this, we could get together and have something like a bake sale or other fundraising event (yard sale, whatever) in order to do it and split the proceeds evenly.

I have sent for a brochure and info.  If I like what it has to say, I'm registering.  I don't know why I soooo want to do this this year...but I do  As always, if and when I do register, anyone who wants to register with me is MORE than welcome to!  (Brian already told me:  "you're on your own for this one, kid!)

And...think of it this way  We are currently supporting one of our own, Chris, who is valiently fighting through this disease.  Not to mention all the people that we know family friends, etc, who have been touched by this.

Two things to ponder and think about
Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

There's no "time frame" that I am aware of. The catch is being able to raise the money.

I agree, and no offense, I agree u may not be ready for that by October. HOWEVER the do it every year so it could be a goal for you for 2011!!!!

Thanks for the interest!

If/when I do sign up I will be sure to let ppl know for support!

I am here to support you 100%!!! Obviously March I won't be able to do - too pregnant and it is cooking class day.

If you do the 3 day I will gladly donate to the cause!

I also sent from the brochure on the 3 day walk. Kind of scary actually - it's like a half marathon PLUS some...for 3 days. However, they do have shuttles if you need to ride part of the way. I am sure that part of the required pledge amount has to do with coverage of costs for food, labor to put up the tents, etc.

The calendar for info meetings for the 3 day is here:

Pam, let's keep in touch on this possibility! I'm still amazed it is POSSIBLE for me to think about! Goodness, a year ago I could barely walk around the freaking BLOCK!!!

I really want to do the 3 day walk. My girlfriend and I were just talking about that this morning. She was thinking that we should do a beef and beer to raise money. $2,300 per person is A LOT of money but it sounds fun. My grandmother had breast cancer and I would love to walk for her and she LOVED the idea of it. It's just how to raise the $2,300 is the problem. Let me know what you think after you get the information. Maybe we can have an OH team.
