I just had a cath done in november of 09 and it was done in my right side of my groin and I felt the pressure and had to lay there for five hours that was the worst of it and started to get claustophobic and the nurse had to calm me down.  Being told not to move was scary for me.  I had three stents put in in 07 and then was cleared for gastric in july of 08. Good luck to your boyfriend they have come a long way with hearts.
