So this is the typical day people say "why did I do it?"
Not me....I am kinda wondering besides the awful gas they fill you with(which I still have some left) and the awful side affects of anesthesia, did my Surgeon perform the surgery???
Oh yeah that xray I had with the thick liquid, which I pretend was peppermint schnapps proves he did.
I have tried between yesterday and today:
PUREED ALL
chicken/mushroom soup
white chicken meat from homemade chicken soup
cream of wheat with protein powder
Protein shakes w fat free organic milk
mashed potatoes
Going to get crazy and try an scrambled egg for dinner
**** DO WE REALLY WORRY YET, BEING KEY WORD,ABOUT GETTING ALL OF OUR PROTEIN IN??
Well I am off to the mall to walk off some more ! Hope my jeans fit over my gassy belly

Wow, you're on pureed really early compared to my surgeon.  Watch those eggs, some folks have trouble with eggs early out.

I have never did the 'why did I do this" but I did have the .... are they sure they made my tummy smaller cause I sure dont' feeeeeelll different.  UNTIL>>> that first time something gets stuck.  Then you TOTALLY get it.  LOL

I had trouble gettin in all the protein after I started subbing food for protein drinks.. I am more worried when I'm a year out and suppose to slow down my slider foods.  :-(

Glad all is going well and WOOHOOO... welcome to eggs.  (love love love eggs)

Sounds like you are doing great! Just don't get over confident and push the limits.

Your surgeon does get you on pureeds quickly. I had to wait 3 weeks! Make sure that you eat slowly and chew (even though it doesn't seem like you need to) Eggs are tricky. I am 3 years out and still have problems with them.

No we don't worry yet about getting all of your protein in. When you get to eating solids we'll worry about that. You should be getting a little closer every day or 2 though.

Call your surgeon too -you should be able to take gas-x to help relieve some of that pressure. Also the more you walk the easier and more quickly it will pass

Glad to see you posting Lynn.. sounds like you are doing ok.. I am also surprised about the purees so soon, but my surgeon had me on solids after 10, so who knows.. LOL

Like Liz said, don't push things too fast.  Make sure you are doing everything slowly.  You are still healing and don't want to mess that up.

Well for me...day 6 WAS the day that I did the "what the hell" thing!  I had horrendous diarrhea from the dye my surgeon used in me for surgery and was a total mess, literally.

But other than that one single day, I didn't have those feelings of "what the heck" ever....oh, wait, I lie....at about 7 mos out I had a bowel obstruction and said that again.  Lucikly - that resoved on it's own.

Take things real slowly - even if you can have pureed doesn't mean your body is quite ready for a alot of changes.  Liz said she had to wait three weeks - I had to wait four!  My first week was clear liquids only weeks two and three were full liquids only, and week four started pureed, week 5 was soft, and week 6 was regular.

So - you sound like you are doing well, which is AWESOME!  Remember to take your time, MEASURE everything, and keep walking walking walking for the gas (I was allowed to take chewable gas x) and many have loved the gas x meltaway strips.

Keep on successing!

Lynn - I was told that gax-x was fine to use.  I used (and still do) the Gas-x peppermint strips.  They work pretty well for gas.

You might not get ALL of your protein in right away.  Do the best that you can.  You will get better at getting it in soon.

Keep up the good work !

Lisa
