My pouch

I'm almost 8 months out. and sometimes I can eat more than I should be eating.  Makes me ask myself that age-old question...Is my pouch stretched out????  Have I ruined everything???

Then I eat some dense protein and my pouch gets full and stays fulls on 4 ounces.

I've decided that dense protein really is one of the main keys to our success.   I made a batch of
4 oz. size baked chicken breasts last night and packed one in my bag for a snack today.  I just ate it and by golly my pouch IS alive and apparently still small.  I am stuffed !!

So, my goal is to get back on track with more dense protein, less slider protein (cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.) and less carbs.

On a side note, I find it odd that I feel like a complete piggy if I take in more than 1000 calories.  Pre-WLS, I'm sure I easily shoveled in at least 3500 calories if not more.

Perfectly put.

I definately eat more with "slider" type foods so I avoid them as much as possible.

you have made a great point.. actually a few good points, Lisa.

I know that is a big part of my problem.  I am eating way too much of the slider foods and not enough dense protein.  I have said it before, but have not made any changes.  No wonder I feel like a pig when I am constantly shoveling yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta and eggs into my pouch.

I have chicken to make for tonight and there is extra so I will have that.  I also have some parmesan chicken fingers in the fridge that I have been trying to eat instead of the other stuff.  I went to the store the other day and bought a bunch of meat type stuff--chicken, pork, etc.  I need to do some big cooking and get containers together.

I agree with the whole 1000 cals a day thing.  I'm sure I'm not eating much more than that in a day or even that on some days.  In the past, I could in one meal at any of the various fast food or buffets that we frequented.

Lisa, when I cook, it's looks like I am cooking for an army! But I portion out the food into several small single serving containers. My fridge is always full of containers stacked. But when I feel hungry, I can grab one and throw into the microwave and know I am eating what I should be instead of reaching for a typical snack.

It has been working well for me.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I know I used to do that... I'm not sure why, but I haven't been doing it lately.  I WILL do this again.  I think a big pot of chili is in order, plus the pork roast.  Looks like I'm going to be doing a bunch of cooking in the next few days.

I'm planning on making one of my "enough to feed an army" pots of turkey chili this weekend.   I pack mine in one cup servings and freeze.  My biggest problem is that my boyfriend loves it too and it ends up not lasting as long as I would like it to.

I will say though....I really like greek yogurt and I feel like it is a bit more dense than say your regular Dannon light & fit.  It's high in protein too.  I may not be ready to give that up yet.

I agree with that...and I have one of them a day and won't give that up

totally agree! I can eat alot more of slider foods but 4oz (sometimes less) of a dense protein like chicken or steak still fills me up and I am over 3 years out!

YAY to you for realizing this early out!

Thanks Liz.   This really is a tougher road that I thought it would be.  This journey requires real thought and planning.  And it is amazing how quickly one can get off track if you're not careful.
