Stretching/lifting for weight loss?
My doc wants me to stretch every day to help my joints and muscles in the healing. I'm cool with that - I can stretch at intervals through the day and I have various sizes of hand weights.
Of course, I want to be back taking my long hikes again...well, yesterday! It's very hard for me to not push the limits whenever I get a really good day. I so miss it and feel like I should take advantage. Doc said that sometimes walking is not the best thing and that on such days, I should try doing half of what I want to do. And no heavy lifting.
But I've been finding that the weight doesn't want to budge, even when I'm eating and drinking as I should. It's very frustrating.
I'm wondering, does anyone know of any non-aerobic type exercises that can aid in weight loss, even if one is limited as far as aerobics?

There's a great yoga DVD by Richard Yee, it's called AM/PM yoga, it has one session for the morning and one for the evening - neither is tremendously difficult - I've used the AM one for years to stretch and create a nice meditative mood for the day. Can't wait until my six weeks are up after surgery, I'm really looking forward to getting back to it. Even at my fattest, I could get through the morning routine, and get a good stretch.
