Hi! Although the FDA hates them, compounding pharmacists can make (and flavor without sugar) liquid tylenol the dose of which can be measured by...well, spoon size. A teaspoon full, etc. I have not taken any. I have tylenol compounded into a cream for various aches and pains, (sort of like the old time aspercreme) because it goes right to the source of the pain and doesn't cause the damage that tylenol can do to your liver. Compounding pharmacists, in my experience, usually have to educate physicians about what they are able to produce. Mine literally taught my gynecologist - and she admits this freely -more about the menstrual cycle than she knew as a praticing gynecologist. This was re: hormone replacements. Compounding pharmacists are the best! They can make just about anything you need. Unfortunately, (except perhaps, in the instance of one's needing a very specific drug in liguid form, due to some problem or another, that is unobtainable as manufactured by the various pharmaceutical companies) these drugs are not covered by most insurance companies' prescription policies. Its a shame, really. I kept a diary for a couple of months, while on one of my pharmacist's standard monthly replacement packs - and he was able to fine tune - and eliminate the PMS symptoms one can get again during replacement therapy. Everyone should have one! And, if you live in a geographic area where they are regarded as one step above voodoo practitioners or medicine men, they can direct you, if you work with them gently - to Drs. who will presribe what you need. I.e., call them; ask them about whatever; how to ask your Dr. to prescribe it. (They will never tell you that [their individualized drugs are their stock in trade - but you can get the script on some other pretense - like some other Dr. of yours wants to see it] but then you have to ask, plaintively, if they know of anyone who might be a little more familiar with compounding for whatever you are seeking. Some actually charge for this info. I avoided those. But I did find a wonderful man and his son - and the standards the FDA makes them meet would shut down most PCP Drs. offices and standardized testing labs.
