What protein bars do you all like?  I was looking for one high in protein and low in sugar (& sugar alcohols) tonight and came home empty handed.  Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Sara

Sara,

It can be tough to find protein bars that are low in sugar.  I like La Brada Rockin' Roll bars (like a Payday candy bar), Pure Protein, Think Thin, and Supreme bars.  I've recently tried (and like) Doctor's CarbRite Diet bars (they have fruit flavors rather than candy bar-type flavors) and Oh Yeah Good Grab bars.  Atkins bars are good too.  I buy the different bars at Walgreens, Giant, GNC, the Vitamin Shoppe, and online.

Good luck finding bars you like!  It can  be tough!

I ordered them from netrition.  I know other websites have them, and I think Barix sells them.  They really are yummy.  They're the only bars I liked after surgery.  (Fortunately, my tastes have changed again, so I like other bars now, too.)

Sara,
I like the supreme bars they are carb conscious and under 2gm of sugar. You can find them at GNC and like Julia stated I like the Rock N' Roll bars but my surgeon told me to stay away from protein bars as they mimick candy bars. I keep one in my bag since I now suffer from hypoglycemia and when that happens I need something that is sweet and has carbs in them. I hope this helps you.

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

Not surprisingly, I agree with Julia and Shilpa... the Supreme bars are really good.  The Labrada Rock N Roll bars are very good, but keep an eye on the nutrients, as half a bar is usually the serving that's right for "us".

The nutritionist at Barix pointed out to me that Rock N Roll bars are among the highest in fat, as well.

I haven't seen anyone else list them yet, but, I've been using the Oh Yeah! wafers/bars.  ot real high in protein (14g) but not bad (and better then a shake to me).  2g sugars, 8g carbs.

I've been picking up bars wherever I see them to try and these are the least objectionable so far :-)  I've been doing _alot_ of air travel lately and they've been great for taking along to snack in airports or on the plane.

I like the Atkins bars - most of them are very low in sugar and carbs, they're not huge and most of them really don't taste like candybars so you're not inclined to over-indulge in them. I keep some in my desk at work and in a jar at home, mostly for those times when I'm out shopping or know I won't be able to grab something decent to eat - example - my mother is in the hospital so I go right there from work, which means I miss dinner, so I throw a protein bar and a piece of fruit in my purse and have that while she's eating her dinner. Most of them have at least 10 grams of protein, some more, a few less - the ones with the lesser protein tend to be more like a candy bar so I don't get them very often.

I like the Rock n Roll bars too but they're huge...and tough to eat sometimes.
