found this recipe sounds yummy but how do I figure out calories and carbs and proteins ..

you know me still learning and trying to figure it all out.. thanks in advance...

I adapted this recipe from my mom, who used to make a similar pie, but with pie crust and a few other differences. My hubby loved this. It was excellent!

  • 1 large whole wheat tortilla

  • 1 lb lean ground beef or ground turkey (I used turkey)

  • 1 pkg taco seasoning

  • 3 cups LF cheddar cheese

  • 1 large jar salsa

  • 1 cup crushed whole wheat tortilla chips

  • LF sour cream

Preheat oven to 350. Prepare ground beef with taco seasoning as per envelope instructions. Place wheat tortilla in the bottom of a pie pan. Layer in 1/2 of the taco meat, then 1/2 of salsa, and 1 cups cheese. Then repeat with meat, salsa then on the top sprinkle chips and top with remaining cheese. Bake for about 15 minutes. Serve with sour cream and cheese on top. This is very tasty and full of protein!

There are many websites for tracking calories, fat, carbs, protein

I use fitday.com ... I enter all the measured ingredients ... get the total for the entire recipe and then enter the finished recipe by weight or measure or serving.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

Jenn,

I use sparkpeople.com for recipe calculating and for my nutrition and fitness tracking.  Completely free and very "friendly" to use.  You basically enter each ingredient into the recipe with the amount, specify the number of servings, then it generates your "nutrition label" for the recipe.  You can then tell it to add a serving of it to your nutrition tracker for the day if you want.  Your recipes are all saved in your own recipe box and you can choose whether to share them with other users.

The recipe sounds good!  Thanks for sharing.

Oh - and one other sub you might consider is to use greek yogurt in place of the sour cream to further up the protein count and decrease the fat even more.
