whats worng with me?
I am no expert on the band there are other people on here who have it that could offer advice. The one thing I can say is just because you can eat that much does not mean you should. They tell us to measure our food and plan ahead for a reason. It is up to us to make the decision to limit the amount we can eat whether we can eat more or not.
Try not to freak out, you are on a learning curve it will be ok. I suggest talking with your NUT and the lap band board for more advice
But I think Nic and Nan summed up two of the biggest culprits. A) Not eating often enough B) allowing yourself to get to hungry and C) needing to realize just because you can eat something or an amount of something doesn't mean you should.
Your tool will work for you - but you need to work for it too.
Will one western burger totally derail your work so far? Probably not. But the mentality of "just one once in awhile" might. Only because "just one" can sometimes lead to much more than that.
Plan your meals, stick to your program, and continue successing!

Nicki, sometimes we need to do what we know works for us, rather than what he is telling us. You will need to have some kind of snack to keep you satisfied so you are not overdoing it. Plus, like has already been said, just because you CAN eat it, doesn't mean you SHOULD.
I am so good at shelling out advice. I am going to work hard this week on portion control. That is going to be my main focus this week as I try to get back on track.
Thanks for the reminder with your post Nicki.
First off - you ARE an expert in RNY. Just because you know stuff doesn't mean your body cooperates with you or that you are perfect all the time. Hang in there sister. You're successing and that's what counts.
Secondly - I was unaware your surgeon didn't want you having snacks. You know my feelings on that. I FIRMLY believe in 5-6 small meals a day....but whatever.
Thanks for the info!

Re: our surgeon, that's why I said what I did about actually EATING snacks. I think he's wrong in not allowing snacks. I firmly believe that we need snacks, too. But, that could explain why Nicki may not be eating any.
After my ONE YEAR check up NEXT WEEK (Yikes), I will be looking for someone else for the rest of my follow up care. I have too much personal stuff going on that he does not seem to understand is playing a part in my stall and I need someone who is going to help me, not yell at me. I fully get tough love, but I think he went beyond tough love last time I was there.
Just my opinion.

You can't measure your achievements with someone else's yardstick!

If I had time to find another surgeon before my year, I would do it. But, I'll just deal with him through my 1st year and then find someone else. I'm going to go to Lehigh Valley hospital and try to get one of their surgeons to help me. They also have a full staff of NUTS, therapists, etc., where my doc is alone and uses outside people to help with the other stuff.
I wish I could lose a couple of pounds before my visit, but if not, what can I do. I would like him to talk to my GYN so he can back me up on the whole DEPO can cause weight gain or no weight loss thing. He totally agrees that the DEPO played a big part in my stall. He has been great in helping me to get past this. I love my GYN!!!!
