Dad is doing well and being released from the hospital!!

Hello Friends,

I have been posting updates on my dad on FB, but I figured I would post on here as well. It has been a difficult two weeks. Dad had pneumonia caused by aspiration by food. He is not able to swallow due to parkinsons. He had surgery on Friday to put in a feeding tube. The last couple of months he has not been eating or drinking well and now we know why. 

So, he is returning to the nursing home to recuperate and hopefully get stronger!! Thanks to you OH people for supporting me through this....

On another subject, I had my six month check up with Dr. P. ( I am actually 8mths out, but could not get an appt in Dec.) and she was so proud of me!! I have lost 104.5 pounds since my surgery.  She said that I looked like a totally different person. I feel like a different person too!!!
I look in the mirror and see a jaw line, who knew???

     I am not on Facebook so I didn't know about your dad.  Glad to hear that the problem has been identified for your father.  Hopefully now he will be getting proper hydration and nourishment.

     Congrats on the fantastic weight loss.  You have worked really hard to get the surgery and afterwards.  Looking forward to seeing you at March's Saturday support meeting.  Take care.

Beth, glad things are looking up for your dad.  Hopefully, they'll be able to keep him in a healthier state in the nursing home.
