wondering what happened
ok so today at work we ordered pizzas cause we had a blood drive so we alwasy feed the workers... we ordered a white pizza which is ricotta cheese and mozzarella .. so I scraped 1 pizza and ate that for lunch and I was fine... this was about 1 pm
well I worked till 2:30 got home waited for kids at 3:30 went to grocery store got really tired in store, I am sure jsut cause it was a long day and this is my first week back... so in line I start getting really woozy we get out to the car and my 11yr old GOD LOVE HIM says mom get in the car you are tired and its snowing he put everything in .. we start driving and I got sooo sick my stomach started reallly hurting I got goosebumps, I did the puke gag like.. made it home rushed into the bathroom and had a major bowel movement ( I have been constipated for days) now I am starting to feel better pushing fluids..
But do you guys think I was just soo constipated and the grease from the pizza finally made me go.. it wasnt like greasy that I could see but I know the cheese gets greasy.. or do you think I was dumping from that..
that was the first time I have had ricotta cheese
I hope this makes since I rambled sorry...

I think that you dumped on the fat. The woozy tired feeling can be a symptom of dumping too. Pizza places don't use anything low fat so that mozzarella is loaded with fat as is the ricotta - that much fat would have me in the bathroom at 3 years out. I won't lie - I do eat pizza from time to time, but usually I make my own with low fat ricotta and part skim mozz. Oh and a lot of pizza places also add oil to the toppings and crust (just under the toppings) of a white pizza.
Take it easy on the pouch tonight. Hope you feel better! Oh and great work to your 11 year old!

thank you both I was afraid that was what happened.. I was trying to make a safe choice- I did pat the pizza down didnt seem too greasy but I was wondering about the fat content.. I know now for next time that was my mistake here I was trying to be good *LOL..
so when you dump it doesnt happen right away - cause this was like 3 hrs later so I was shocked and that is why I wasnt sure what it was...

it depends. Usually with sugar I dump within 10-15 minutes - it'snl oy happened twice both my accidental "poisoning"
NOW on the other hand with fats it can take a while depending on how much etc. Ice Cream, yes no sugar added, KILLS me. I'll eat a 1/2 cup or so and be OK for 45min-1hr and then feel like I am dying! Too much fat can also make my pouch "stew" especially if I am constipated but as horrible as it sounds I am "plugged up" and it takes longer for the effects. ODdly enough eggs can do this to me at times too - something about the fat in the yolks.
Another poster had mentioned dumping on the sugars in a clementine - fruits and natural sugars can wreak just as much havoc on our systems - especially early out. If you are going to eat fruit balance it with protein. I almost always have my fruit with greek yogurt.
ETA for the first several months out I would recommend always bringing your own food with you - no chances there! That way if there isn't something "safe" to eat you have backup! Learning the swing of things post op is like being a girl scout - always have to be prepared! I leave the house with water, crystal light powder and snacks at all times.

i have been bringing my own things but for some reason I had it in my head I could have that not thinking it wasnt going to be low fat trust me i have learned my lesson. although as miserable as I was I am no longerr constipated HA HA ..
i really appreciate all your comments and trust me not happening again that was enough...

totally understand that! My first dumping was totally an accident. My mom had made custard for us, well she knows the rules as well as I do - what we didn't know then was that splenda for baking is 1/2 sugar! Oh did I pay! Now I swear I drive people crazy with my 10000 questions about ingredients. Another reason I make about 95% of things from scratch, myself. I don't trust anything!
LOL!! Well that is a good thing too -peri colace is a life saver for me - well plain colace now that I am pregnant.
Prunes are a great help too - I was eating 2-3 a day and regular as anything, I have to get back into that habit.
Oh and being a post op is a lot of trial and error unfortunately - I always try to post my "errors" so hopefully someone else can learn from mine instead of the hard way :)

there is a lot of olive oil on white pizza combined with the oil in the cheese, that will make you dump, Ricotta cheese y itself is good for you,you can also mix ricotta with low fat mozzarella chees and nuke it for 30 seconds taste like the inside oof a Calzone if you had spaghetti sauce to it it will be like noodless lasagna, I dont use fat free chees it tastes like was paper tome & doesn't melt very well so I eat low fat & eat less.
and for dessert
ricotta cheese, splenda, cinnamon & vanilla you can mix it and it tastes like the inside of a Ricotta cheese cannoli, I put mine in the blender(bullett) and it comes out more creamy which I like better
