sticking to the basics - thurs
B: Yoplait greek yogurt (that I am not so sure I like)
L: turkey and cheese on a deli flat (probably the last time I will be able to eat anything bready)
D: soup
Going out to see Dr. Brader today. I haven't dropped a pound. I think I will be getting a fill. I hate those big a$$ needles!

Hi Karen,
Is the Oikos yogurt come in different forms? THe only one I can find has 11g Organic Sugar....After I purchased it yesterday, I looked it up and I don't want to eat it now, I think it's the wrong kind.
Which one do you eat?
Also, do you know if Light Muscle Milk protein supp is OK? I compared to what I took home from Barix and noticed the sugar content is fine, however, calories and carbs are much higher. Does that matter? I cannot find anything on carbs in my book. Must check again.
Figuring out your daily intake is not as easy as I thought it would be, and neither is consuming it all. I am 2 weeks post-op today.

Hi Tish,
Oikos (and Fage) comes in both plain and flavored. You want the PLAIN (the others have added sugars). You can then use it just like sour cream (for savories) or can sweeten it by adding some sugar free fruit preserves or pureed fruit and some splenda. Others add some cinnamon and splenda, etc.
I do drink the Muscle Milk Light as a breakfast substitute. I generally have the 8.5 oz size, which is comparable to Matrix protein. It's exactly the same in protein, carbs and calories as a scoop of matrix with 3/4 cup nonfat milk - a tiny bit higher in fat, but not enough to matter in the long run as long as I'm tracking it (and i generally have just the muscle milk - when i have a matrix shake, i add strawberries, and usually 1/2 a banana to it, which adds to it). Muscle Milk LIght is lactose free and aspartame free, as well.
You won't find ANYTHING on carbs in the barix info, nor will they tell you much (or give you goals)... it's a policy thing with them. I find that balancing carbs and protein seems to work for me, but keeping the carbs on the lower end of the protein range.
Sounds like you're doing great! Keep up the good work.

Karen - it was strawberry flavored (I also have honey vanillla) and it said 'new' in the market when I bought it. Dr. Brader just told me to stay away from yogurt... well, after I finish this round I will stop the yogurt.

Today's plan:
B: hot chocolate Max Protein
L: chili with a dab of Greek yogurt (sour cream sub)
S: TJ's frying cheese
D: cioppino
S: roasted chickpeas
Probably another protein shake in there somewhere. I've been getting head hunger at night, and I figure it's better to have the protein shake than something I'll regret later.
