creatinine and bun/creatinine ratio..should I be worried?
So, I got the results of the bloodwork my PCP ordered.. CBC, complete metabolic and thyroid..
The numbers all look good and seem to fall in the middle of where they should be, except the creatinine and bun/creatinine ratio. The creatinine is .57 which the results say is low in the range of .58-1.06 and the ratio is 26 which is higher than the 6-22 range they are recommending.
I looked up what this was and it said something about kidney function. It also mentioned that it could be dehydration. Could it just be that?
Please help.. I know my PCP will call with the results, too, but I wanted to know for US, not just the average patient.
I will be going Thursday morning for the bloodwork for the surgeon to get all my vitamin levels and such.
Thanks guys

my PCP office called last night and left a message that everything was normal. So, I guess I shouldn't worry. BUT, I had also been told that everything was normal before and you guys were worried about a couple of my levels, like my B-12.
I hope someone can chime in with their opinions about the creatinine. I'm sure it's just a matter of Pammie being at work or sleeping or grieving or something ridiculous like that!!
I'm also going to call the PCP and ask today about that level and see what they say about it.

that creatinine level is perfectly acceptable. there is nothing wrong with it. I promise! I work with a kidney doctor and deal with creatinine levels on a constant basis.
WLS will not affect your creatinine like vitamin levels can.
Okie Dokie!!

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
Yea....I think I was sleeping when you posted....or at work...one of the two, LOL
Waaaaaaaay back in nursing school we dealt with the ratio thing. Could I give you an example of it now? Not if you offered me a million bucks.
HOWEVER, like Jodi said....the creatinine is GREAT and I would be more worried if that was elevated.
Glad Jodi was around to answer!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
