Well, it's been a long time since I posted on this board. I found out I was pregnant 4/30/09 and his due date was 1/9/2010 but he decided to be mommy's little belated birthday present and came on 10/17/09 (1 day after my birthday!). He was 12 weeks early and stayed in NICU for 7 weeks. He's home now and healthy. Here's my problem.... I can't seem to lose this baby weight! I think I eat more now then when I was pregnant. I was 138 when I found out and 164 when I delivered. I am now at 159! Please if someone could please help, any advice is great.

Sounds like you had a lot more to worry about than yourself for the last few months. Is the baby healthy now? Doing well for his age? If so then its time to get back to thinking about yourself and your health.

Why not try the 5 day pouch test - you can google it and it might give you a fresh start and jump start your weight again. You still have your tool - maybe its just a matter of re-learning how to use it. Proteins first, veggies, then carbs if you have room. No sugar - you know, the basics.

I'm not an expert and I'm far from perfect, but maybe just starting a small food journal again would help. Are you active? The weather right now isn't great for outdoor activity but maybe there's something you can do while the baby is napping?

You'll get back on track - change small things first to help yourself over this bump.

Good luck and congratulations on the baby!!

Thank you so much. Yes he is doing absolutely wonderful now. He's got a little bit of a cold now but other than that - just perfect!

I will have to try the 5 day pouch test. I am willing to try anything to get this under control. Just worried that I'm going to gain all the weight back. Don't want that!

I know that's one of my biggest fears too - as I think it is for a lot of us who have gone from fluffy to healthy but you've already made a step in the right direction, and that was coming out here and asking for help - knowing that you want to get the weight off and just need some advice and support on how to get it going again - you'll get tons of both on this board.

Don't panic - you're not going to gain it all back - you want to be nice and healthy so you can play with that new little guy as soon as he's mobile too! That might be more incentive to get back on track - knowing how much better you'll feel and how much easier it will be to keep up with him.

Good luck and keep us posted...

Girl,

I had my son a little over 9 months ago. I am still not back to pre preggo weight. although I am on a good start.

I finally really went back to the basics. I elimated ALL sugar and virtually all carbs. I only eat lean meats, cheeses, and veggies.

I only drink water, homemade tea with splenda, and coffee

I began exercising. It's not as routine as I'd like but it's definately at least 4 times per week, and I try to do more.

It really takes work and effort. It's not easy. I was 30 pounds over my pre preggo weight. I now have 12 to get there. So it's working!

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Congrats on your little bundle of joy! And also on the weight loss! Only 12 pounds from pre-preggo weight? That's awesome!

Jesse - I talked to my surgeon and NUT about this as I am currently almost 25 weeks pregnant with #1, I am 3 years out of surgery.

Remember that your tool is still there you just have to "work it". Get back to basics - protein first, then veggies and fruit and carbs last. No drinking 30 minutes before or after your meals and get your body moving. (I know easier said then done!)

I am sure that you'll get the weight off in no time. Congrats on your baby boy and I am so glad that he is doing well!
