The Measure Up Bowl

I get Women's Day magazine and in my recent issue there is a section called 'Product We Love' and this month they are showing an item called the Measure Up Bowl - you eat right out of it but can measure everything you put in it because there are etched lines on the inside of the bowl indicating 1/2 cup, 1 cup, 1 1/2 and 2 cups.

I know for me being almost 2 years out I can definitely eat more now and I find myself over-sizing my portions and then can't eat it all anyway. Trying to eyeball the right amount just doesn't cut it anymore because sometimes my eyes are literally bigger than my pouch!! LOL!

I'm going to order one - its $19.99 and you can get it at shopmeasureupbowl.com. I will gladly provide any testimonials I can after receiving it, but I thought it was a great product for us WLS folks who tend to forget just how much we should be eating.

Interesting!  I think Pampered Chef has similar things as well.

I have a bunch of one cup containers that I pack my food in for work.  I don't fill them all the way up most of the time...especially with things like chicken or other meats, but otherwise I take to much a lot of the time, too!

What I liked about this one is its a white bowl and will match my white dishes, and it just looks like a cereal bowl or something like that - not a measuring cup/bowl - so you just put in to the line you want and eat right out of the bowl. I'm anxious to get one - my weight has been holding steady for almost 8 months but I would like to get back on track a little more and try to get another 20-30 lbs off. Granted this isn't a 'magic' bowl - its still up to me to put the right amount in. We'll see how it goes!

Sounds like a good idea. I have the pampered chef ones and use them a lot - they are clear glass and have a lid. I also use the 1 cup containers like Pam for my lunches.

Can't wait to hear your review though.

LOL it wouldn`t work for me. All my life I`ve never liked my different foods to touch (except Mexican and Chinese) I used to start with my least favorite food and work up to my favorite. Now I eat proteins first the go by best nutritional on down. Still don`t like them to touch.
Wonder what they call that phobia. Foodtouchophrenia?

Nicole,

Both Glad and Ziploc make them - they're the reusable plastic ones with the blue lids.  I get them in the grocery store.  Use them until they get too messy (start to pit and stain), then recycle and buy more.  They work great, even for soups and such without spilling.

If you want ones that are more "sturdy" there are the Snap-Lock ones (I've found them at costco, bed bath and beyond and places like that), and have recently found GLASS snap-lock ones as well (at costco).  I just generally stick to the cheaper ones for food (I have a set of snap-locks for my jewelry supplies, though!).

Thanks Karen. I have to get better at measuring my foods out and that would be nice to have servings pre measured for work etc.
