protein recipes - and a new website find!
A bunch of folks have been chatting about having trouble meeting protein goals or finding proteins they like. I figured I'd share a couple of resources that might help....
First off is Bariatric Eating (www.bariatriceating.com), which has recipes using proteins for smoothies, shakes, hot drinks and more, under their "recipes" area. There's also an article - if you read past the "infomercialness" pushing their particular brand of protein, there's some really good information and some great recipes and preparation ideas for ALL post-surg stages, including meal plans put together for each of the post-surg stages.

Meal Plans, all stages: www.bariatriceating.com/BEhealthnutrition/mealplans.php
Barix Clinic's online "store" (which I'm embarassed to say i JUST found - anyone know if it's really been there all along???) has what looks like all of their amazing recipes from the Barix Bible! Exciting because there are some really GOOD ideas in there for all stages...

Baratric Choice (www.bariatricchoice.com) is a fairly new (i think) company that publishes a catalog of baratric-friendly products ranging from proteins and supplements to packaged foods and snacks. They have a "free recipes" section on their website - while they of course specify their own products, you could very easily substitute any protein you like:

I hope these provide some "food for thought" and some good ideas to keep you going. All it takes is a little creativity and a willingness to try something new - you'll be amazed at what you can whip together that tastes great!

Karen,
I'm sooo glad you posted this!!! I had thought I was doing well with getting my protein is, but that's not true lately. I did well when I was working and on a regular schedule, but since my job ended, I don't have a schedule. As a result, I'm finding that I haven't been meeting my protein goals. I'm trying to use a scoop of protein every day now, either as hot chocolate or mixed into something like greek yogurt. That way, I'm more likely to hit my daily goal.
So, thanks again for the reminder!!!!
